'Two and A Half Men' actress on Charlie Sheen: 'He could walk away and be happy'

holland-taylor-sheenImage Credit: Michael Ansell/CBSNo word yet on whether CBS and Warner Bros. TV have managed to convince Charlie Sheen to stay another season or two on CBS’ Two and A Half Men, but at least one fellow cast member hopes they “support him appropriately.” Co-star Holland Taylor, who plays Charlie’s mom Evelyn Harper, told EW.com that while Sheen is “the brand of the show,” she doesn’t know whether the actor will return for a reported salary of nearly $1 million per episode. Sheen’s contract is about to expire and he reportedly hinted that this season could be his last.

“It’s a toss-up,” Taylor admitted to EW.com, while walking the red carpet of the TV Land Awards on Saturday. “I mean, Warners is going to have to realize that they have to support Charlie Sheen appropriately. He is the brand of the show. A decade ago, every kid on Friends was paid $1 million an episode.

“I think he could walk away from it and be happy,” Taylor continued. “Whatever he does, he commits himself and works very hard. He knows his lines before anybody. He is on time and responsible for the show, and a good guy on the set.”

Taylor said she hasn’t heard any talk of CBS continuing the No. 1 sitcom without Sheen. “I can’t even imagine.” – With reporting from Nicholas White

Everyone compares Charlie’s salary to all the actors on Friends, which I don’t think is a fair comparison. That show got the amount of Two and a Half Men’s viewers on a bad day.

Charlie Sheen should be getting more than the Friends cast members. He was all ready a big time actor before Two and a Half Men. The six Friends actors were mainly no names at the time when the show got started. Sheen deserves a pay raise. His career is a bright spot in television today. He has been a funny actor since the mid-80s. Show him the money.

Charlie Sheen doesn’t deserve a damn thing except a swift kick between the eyes. He’s done nothing but steal money on that show for years by simply playing himself.

Jon Cryer is far, far, far funnier than Charlie Sheen ever thought about being, at least on that show. Cryer and that kid are who deserve a raise. All Cryer has done is show up for work, on time, and do his job.

Maybe, but it’s still the #1 comedy on tv. Plus, to get off the friends kick, didn’t Tim Allen get like 2 million an episode ihs last season of Home Improvement? Still, with friends, you have 6 million an ep for the cast and that was 10 years ago. I haven’t seen the show in quite a while(I’m a 24 fan, don’t have a dvr, plus really, I’m gonna record TWO AND A HALF MEN?) but still, they make a mint off the show, so if Sheen can be bought, I’d sure buy him if I were the producers.

They could replace charlie Sheen with John Stamos, have him play the same part (ala the 2 Darrins from Bewitched,) and they probably wouldn’t really miss a beat.

      • Beau

You’re out of your freakin’ mind!

      • giovanni

There is NO WAY someone else could play the part of Charlie Harper & do a good job!

  • Jay

She must have been at the TVLand awards for the Bosom Buddies reunion.

A decade ago, network TV was just sickly; now it’s in death-throes….there’s no more $1M per episode contracts to be had. If you’ve got a good gig, stay with it, milk it til it’s dry, and then spend your retirement yanking the crank over your bank statements.

  • ErrolSynn

Rumor is the producers are offering $1M per show and Sheen says he wants $1.5M. The show has already been renewed for two more 24-episode seasons. So the question is, is Charlie Sheen going to walk away from $48M or $72M. Hmmm… Maybe the better question is, Why would he walk away from either?

This show has approximately four jokes that all expired years ago. Please let it die.

  • margaret

charlie stay working, it will keep you from ripping another family apart, think about your sons at least let this family grow up with two parents you have screw’d up 3 of you kids lives already you know your 3 girls

    • snarkle

Really??!?? Working will keep him from ripping another familly apart??? Its never stopped him before.

  • Christian

They should replace him with michael J. Fox

    • socool

      that’s kind of shaky

  • cheri

It’s time to put a fork in this show.Sheen is a hack who is lucky that with all the crap he has done that he can have a job that makes the bick bucks. He is not half the actor his father was/is.Charlie should focus on being a father and husband. This show probably succeeded because of his supporting actors because his talent is limited. Charlie should be a man; focus on family then resume his career when he lives a stable life and is a worthy example to his children.

  • Me

Cheri is onto something regarding the other actors in the cast. I believe it was John Cryer not Sheen that recently won an Emmy.

  • Jonas

I think the show has ran it’s course. The kid is older, Alan isn’t moving out and Charlie is not getting married

  • Deb

They could continue without him, there are many great characters who do not get as much air time as they should. They could put Charlie in rehab and the show could go on

  • Emily Breen

don’t cancel the show cause I record your show all the time on Monday nights on CBS

  • Tim

Carlos ran spin city into the ground, and he will run this one down too. That’s his legacy.

  • eagle

There is nobody that can take Charlies place at this time. The reason a lot of people like it is because the know that’s the way he is in real life. He really doesn’t have to act the part. And as far as comparing Two and a Half with 30 rock and the other nbc comedies, you just can’t. NBC is catering to the intellectual crowd and for most of us, that’s just not that funny. CBS rules the comedy and NBC just wishes, except for a few SNL skits.

    • wb

      Cusack could do it.

  • Moviemaker

The show is nothing without sheen! That’s all I need to say.
