'Curb Your Enthusiasm' back for an eighth season

larry-davidImage Credit: Amy Sussman/Getty ImagesHBO announced today that it has renewed the Larry David starrer Curb Your Enthusiasm for an eighth season. Production on the next 10 episodes will begin this summer in Los Angeles and New York; the comedy will return to the pay cabler’s schedule sometime in 2011.

“After much soul searching — and by the way, it was nowhere to be found — I have decided to do another season of Curb,” said Larry David in a statement. “I look forward to the end of shooting, when I can once again resume the hunt for my elusive soul. I know it’s here somewhere or perhaps in the rugged mountainous regions of Pakistan.” The single-camera series also stars Cheryl Hines as David’s wife Cheryl, Jeff Garlin as David’s manager Jeff and Susie Essman as Jeff’s wife Susie.

After 70 episodes, Curb is HBO’s longest-running scripted series.  It concluded its seventh season last November.

      WHO CARES???!!!!!!

WHAT ABOUT LEGEND OF THE SEEKER??????????!!!!!

      • Andy

Legend of the Seeker? Are you kidding. Shut up, Legend of the Geek comes nowhere near this show.

  • Moe

YES!! Greatest news I received today. You see, my girlfriend dumped me so I needed news like this.

    • ej

      lmao

    • myra

hahaha good one, Brandon… pretty pretty good…

    • Kurt

Brandon gets comment of the day. That made me laugh.

  • Brandon

This is good news. Pretty…pretty…pretty good news.

  • Brian

I’ve loved the show since the beginning, but this is a bad choice. The Seinfeld storyline was the best way to end it and episodes that weren’t focused on that last season were pretty weak.

    • sassyc

I disagree. Larry never seems to run out of funny ideas. MORE I say…MORE C.Y.E. ! Funniest, smartest show on TV.

    • Mary

I also disagree with you, Brian. I think there is still a bit of story there. Did Larry end up getting back together with Cheryl, or did he mess things up forever with “Do you respect wood?” I too am looking forward to more cringing at Larry’s misadventures.

    • graeme

I agree. The Seinfeld arch was a perfect full-circle wrap up for Curb Your Enthusiasm. The last episode, and the last scene was a perfect way to end it.

    YOU KILL SWAN?!!

  • Al

I’m not sure they can top last season but it will be fun to see them try. I hope Leon will be back.

    • labrat

Yes! We need much more Leon!

  • Toni (@ImStillToni)

I would PAY Larry to bring back Denise Handicapped and Officer Krupke hahahahahaha

  • Joe

I heard ricky gervais might show up this season. Dream come true.

    • paige

id pay anything to see Larry David, Ricky Gervais and Madonna again… i thought they made such a strange trio… anyway- i’m glad this show hasnt worn out its welcome like that other HBO comedy… *cough*entourage*cough*

      • charlotte

I did too! Their episode was the best marriage ref. I’m not that crazy about the show. Interestingly enough, my husband likes that show more than I do. But I loved Larry, Ricky and Madonna together. They were hysterical.

      • Nick B

Paige, I am so with you. I can’t even watch Entourage anymore. It’s terrible. I stopped halfway through the last season when I realized I hadn’t laughed or really been entertained at all.

  • Chris

“After 70 episodes, Curb is HBO’s longest-running scripted series. It concluded its seventh season last November.”

Except for the show Dream On, which went on for 114 episodes according to IMDB

    • Foo Foo Mgoo

      Longest running…as in currently running

    • Jeff

Sopranos finished off with 86 episodes.

    • Nick B

Longest running, as in it has been on the air longer than any other HBO series, regardless of number of episodes. It premiered in 2000.

  • M. Night

They need to make more than 10 episodes per season!!!

Also and yea, kill Entourage, the shows sucks now. Say hello to your mother for me.

    • dave

      hahahahah! love the reference.

  • KRG

Leon deserves an Emmy nomination for this past season. CYE! Okay…Okay

  • LD Sein

That’s good news. Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good news!

  • LD Sein

That’s good news. Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good news!

  • LD Sein

That’s good news. Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good news!

I love the show and am happy to see a new season. Larry David is everyman…. just that he says what we think. He has lost the ability to hold back his brutal honesty. And due to this being in short supply, watching a character who allows this to happen damn the consequences, well… this is a breath of fresh air. Larry is at his best when he covers stories about the human condition. Seinfeld was funny story arc but was a deviation from what makes this show really funny… the awkward situations we all find ourselves in, the infidelity, the anger, the BS, the ego and much more. As a Jew, I also relate to the more inside jokes that will make every Jew squirm. (scalping High Holy Day tickets outside of the synagogue is certainly the most uncomfortable that comes to mind). Thanks Larry for finding an outlet for such expression and humor. I love the show.
