'Parks and Rec' scoop: Megan Mullally returns!

Megan Mullally is set to reprise her role as Ron’s (Nick Offerman) manipulative ex-wife Tammy on Parks and Recreation in an episode to air early next season.

“I’m doing one next week or the week after,” the Emmy winner told us following last night’s Paley Center panel for Starz’ Party Down, which she joins in its second season.

Mullally, who is the real-life wife of Offerman, was tight-lipped about what’s in store for the onscreen duo, but she did tease that there’s “going to be more fireworks… What I’ve heard so far is extremely high stakes.”

As previously reported, Mullally’s Party Down costar Adam Scott is joining Parks and Recreation in a regular role later this season.

“Rob Lowe and I come in as state auditors because they’re having a financial crisis in Pawnee,” Scott said. “We’re not exactly welcome in the department.”

Although Scott is reported to be a love interest for Amy Poehler’s Leslie Knope, both he and Mullally are hoping that they’ll get to share some scenes on the NBC comedy. Suggests Scott: “Maybe the librarian and the state auditor will hook up.” (Vlada Gelman)

Nice! I’ll take any Mullally I can get!

The first episode with Mullally was fantastic. It’s hilarious that all the other city departments HATE the library department because of its shady behavior, cutthroat tendencies, and the fact that “everyone is well-read”. Haha! Parks and Recreation has had a fantastic season, if only people would give it another chance.

    Best news all day! :)

Man this is the best comedy on television right now. 30 Rock and The Office have really declined this season. Community is uneven. I really hope it gets a few emmy noms.

This is great news. Megan’s episode was the best one all season. Can’t wait to see her again. Hope she visits more than just once!

  • wizard62

Yea for Government Gals!! Mullaly’s episode was the best of the season this year. Wish they would make her a regular!

I just got the Party Down DVD of season one, and it had the Wally World bonus disc with the first two episodes of season two. I was delighted to see Megan had joined the cast. If you haven’t seen Party Down then go out and get it. That is one great show, and how cool is it that Megan, and Adam Scott are going to be on Parks. Megan’s earlier episode was great, and its funny that she really is married to Ron. More great Parks, and Rec coming soon woot

Oh happy day! Megan Mullaly is awesomely hilarious and talented! And Adam Scott is gonna be there too? WHAAA?! Sweet! Next they’ll tell us Ken Marino is gonna be guest-starring, lol. I wish the best for both shows, they are really great. (the only piece of news i’m not too psyched about is Rob Lowe – i’m still indifferent to the guy).

  • Jen

Yay! I forgot Offerman & Mullally are real-life spouses too. Too cute.

  • Chels725

Yippee! She had better get a guest star emmy nod. Parks & Recreation and Community are the best comedies on tv.

I would agree that The Office is not a must watch anymore but I really hate missing Community and Parks and Rec- plus, I love 30 Rock. I caught Parks and Rec last year but didn’t like it but now I love this season= Andy and April are two of my favorite characters- Ann, not so much!

  • Lala

Yay! Love her, and love the show. “Ugh, the library!”

  • Ryan

    YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • side3

    Ron Swanson is my hero.

  • izikavazo

Awesome. I hope she comes back a lot.
