CBS announced today that it will broadcast the 37th annual Daytime Emmy Awards from the Las Vegas Hilton on June 27. The show will air live on the east coast (delayed PT) from 9 to 11 p.m. This is the first time the ceremony that primarily honors the daytime sudsers will take place in Sin City.

“The Daytime Emmy Awards are one of the cornerstones of our business and we are thrilled to be back on CBS,” said Herb Granath, Chairman, National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, in a statement.  ”Last year’s show was one of the most entertaining events in our history, and this year’s Las Vegas-based broadcast promises to be even more exciting.”

Nominations will be announced on May 12. The ceremony honors achievements in all fields of daytime TV production, including talk  and game shows. Last year’s winner in the outstanding drama category was CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful.

I’m a huge daytime television fan, so I look forward to the Daytime Emmys every year!(Although I think I might be the only person who still watches them LOL! ;) )

      I still watch Maureen!! I can’t wait!

Thank you CBS!! Kinda ironic that the network wants to cancel their daytime shows, but agrees to host the Daytime Emmys. Hmmm? Anyway not complaining, just glad the WB won’t be hosting again!

I wonder if Susan Lucci will be nominated?!

    • Dan

Susan Lucci will not be nominated this year. She was not one of the “pre-noms” selected from AMC. The “pre-noms” from AMC for Lead Actress were Alicia Minshew (Kendall) and Bobbie Eakes (Krystal). Susan will be watching from the audience!

Im with gigi, I also find it very ironic that CBS is airing the Emmy’s, which will feature the last year Guiding Light will ever be nominated for anything while As the World Turns will get some sort of goodbye tribute. I’m sure CBS will have a new category created, Outstanding Game Show to Replace a Soap. Thanks CBS to your continuous dedication!

IMO, The Daytime Emmys will get better ratings this than last year. The CW made it had its lowest ratings in recent years. Also, I’m hoping that they’re planning a tribute to Frances Reid.

Sure CBS the network that cut the best daytime soap Guilding Light and is cuting ATWTS nis hosting the Emmys. Now what does that say about that network.. I used to enjoy alot of CBS shows but now I am switching stations, ABC is looking better.

I’m so pleased to hear that Vanessa will be reprising the role, that made her famous! Back in 1997, a guy named Greg Berdenski had a web site, dedicated as her Official Home Page and it was set up so cool. He needed some help w/ volunteer writers, so I figured I would apply and see what happened. Greg ended up liking my writing and said I could write with him and the other people that volunteered as well. He wanted me to write a “gossip column.” But he wanted to make sure that everything I said about Vanessa/Brenda was good gossip, not a realistic gossip column! lol. I had fun doing it, and had to smile when Vanessa accepted an award (I forget which one), and actually thanked Greg, in her acceptance speech! It felt good, knowing she thanked the guy I was writing for! lol. I heard she is appearing on August 11th b/c I saw her on Wendy Williams this afternoon!! I stopped watching GH, shortly after Vanessa left the show. I remember they hired some dark haired girl for a Sonny match-up, after Brenda left Port Charles, and although I forget her character’s name and her actual name, she was hired to try to replace Brenda, or to look a lot like Brenda, but her fans were too smart for that! They were having none of it.. Oh, wasn’t her name Hannah, or something like that?
