Image Credit: ack Rowand/The CWMartha Kent (Annette O’Toole) returns home to Smallville on May 7, and, much to Clark’s surprise, mom’s got a new boyfriend — Perry White (Michael McKean)! Here’s your exclusive first look at what I’m sure will go down as one of the show’s most awkward double dates ever. (Meta trivia: O’Toole and McKean are married in real life.)

That is at LEAST six different kinds of adorable. Oh man, I so can’t wait for Hostage. It’s going to be awesome!
Thanks for the little sneak peak, Ausiello.
Why no preview for one of the sleeper hits – LEGEND OF THE SEEKER!!!!!! Kahlan Amnell is 100x hotter than any woman on this show and Richard Cypher is 100x the man Clark Kent is. LEGEND has better stories and doesn’t drag on FOREVER like Smallville which should be retitled Metropolis
Umm…seriously? Look, I enjoy Legend of the Seeker too. (I prefer Smallville and I prefer Erica and Tom but that’s another matter and an opinion.) But this is a nice pleasant thread where we are talking about Smallville. Stay on topic. ok? It’s not the place to talk about Seeker.
I watch both shows; I like Legend but I love Smallville! Let’s see if Legend can get to 10 seasons like Smallville and still produce better stories like most of Smallville’s present Season 9.
Um Sunset they may have atleast 11 seasons if they can. I know this for a fact that there are 12 books in the series with 1 Prequal and 11 in the series.
Stick to the topic, so not the place either talk about the pic or don’t comment.
Sorry about that I will shut up now.
Seeker got canceled anyway. They’ll never get ten seasons and get to enjoy the return of such old and fondly remembered characters like Annette O’Toole. It’s nice to see they aged her character. (don’t know if she’s naturally grey, but the effect is nice)
I totally agree! I was so not expecting to see an image like THAT for this episode.
wow why is she so old
Annette O’Toole may have decided to stop dying her hair and there is nothing wrong with that. She’s in her late 50′s. I know this may be lost on immature youth but when you reach that age sometimes your hair turns grey. She’s still a beautiful woman and looks great for her age. So glad to have her and Michael back on the show! Looks like a great episode!
No need to be a bitch
I’m only 21, but I hate it when older people keep dying their hair to look “younger”. I think it makes them look strange if they’re face and so on look their age but their hair is is platinum blond. I find it more beautiful, in more than one way, if people just look their age.
Love ya Mary, ITA with what you just said!
I never got the impression that Mama Kent was that old. I mean, they purposefully made the Kents younger so they could have more of an impact. At the most, I figured Mama Kent would be in her early 50s right now, which in most instances is too young to be showing that much gray hair. It just seems a little weird to me, that’s all.
What exactly then is the “right” age to show that much gray?? My mother and a good friend of mine both started to go gray in high school. It’s more genetics then anything else!
She is indeed beautiful.
she really is still looking good. I wouldn’t be surprised if she was that pair of legs in the limo…
She’s aged well, and I’m liking the contrast between how old she does look with Clark, who looks roughly the same age he did when she left (and, as Superman, won’t ever look much older).
Tom Welling’s “aging” or lack thereof is a mystery to all Smallville fans. ON the one hand, he has absolutely aged since Season 1. He looked like a kid in the early days and now he looks like a man. The unfair part is that he seems to somehow get better looking year after year which defies all logic or human biology. It’s like he ages in hotness but still has the skin of a 25 year old.
Kathleen, it doesn’t defy logic or human biology. Many men get better looking as they get older (a fact often bemoaned by older women). The heavy use of soft focus on “Smallville” certainly helps Welling out, though.
Well, I agree that many men get better looking as they age. (And for the record, I can think of plenty of examples of women who have gotten better looking in their 30′s vs. their 20′s as well. Erica Durance on Smallville being a good example of that.) I just meant that in my opinion, he was already a beautiful man when the show premiered. Probably one of the most beautiful men I’ve ever seen on television. I didn’t think it would be possible to find him more attractive 9 years later. Welling looks equally as incredible in candids when he’s standing at an airport in jeans and an undershirt. I do’nt think it’s the soft focus per se
I liked the subtle grey they did during the series, but I agree they definitely amped it up here. I personally don’t mind the white, but I wish they had put in a little more red to the body color actually.
But yaaay AOT!
Aw… that’s cute. Welcome back Martha & Perry.
WHAAAAAAAAA!!!
