This Just In: Plot of top-secret 'Grey's Anatomy' finale revealed!

greys-anatomy-blanketImage Credit: Ron Tom/ABCSort of. ABC just released the loglines for Grey’s Anatomy‘s two-hour finale on May 20, and, unlike the ultra spoilery synopses for Private Practice, Brothers & Sisters, and Desperate Housewives that preceded it, this one leaves a lot to the imagination. That said, there is one curiously cryptic scoopbit embedded in the otherwise vague tease…

“In the first hour of the two-hour season six finale, ‘Sanctuary,’ Seattle Grace Hospital is hit with a crisis like no other in its history on Grey’s Anatomy. In the second hour of the finale, ‘Death and All His Friends,’ Cristina and Meredith’s surgical skills are put to the ultimate test.”

Call me crazy, but I’m betting there’s a connection between hour 1′s “crisis” and the title of the hour 2. Thoughts?!

    I got nothing… :(

It says that Christina and Meredith’s skills will be put to the test, but it doesn’t mention anyone else. What if there is a catastrophe at the hospital that injures most of the surgeons, and Meredith and Christina are the only ones that weren’t there, i.e. the only ones that are left to handle the chaos after? Or something like that.

      • jay

        Just let it end. PLEASE!

      • jennrae

Yes, I say kill them all.

      • Tim

yes please, just make it stop, please!

      • Daisy

Why do you people who don’t like the show even reading this!!!

    • MB

      I got nothing, too.

    • Clishfear

      Snapple :(

  • Logistics

Maybe Derek is hurt in an accident and Meredith has to perform surgery on him?

    • Dan

Would never happen. There are rules against doctors treating family. Grey’s has stuck to this in the past.

      • Jane

Never say never, b/c my guess is that the “ultimate test” will be Mer and Christina having to perform this surgery OUTSIDE the hospital….Derek and or Mer will be taken hostage by the crazy stalker girl from Everwood, and derek will be seriously injured; Mer and Yang have to perform immediate surgery b/c for some reason the hospital is unavailable…

      • Elle

They’re not “family.” Post-it weddings don’t count in the legal sense.

      • Connie Welsh

Hahahahhahahhahahhahahhahahhaaaa!!! Jane, I like your style! Do you write comedy?

      • Dr. Spock

There is no “rule” against operating on members of ones own family!! It is just not commonly done. This stupid show defies all medical logic anyway with all of it’s ridiculous practices, antics, and story lines that it doesn’t really matter.

      • shdigu01

They are not legally married so this does not hold true for them

      • Brad

Ok you wanna talk about rules however this show has broken all the rules of an OR. So i can say this is anything can happen.

      • sandrine

There’s definitely no rule against doctors treating family members. We just shy away from treating our own family because we want to avoid the “extension syndrome” i.e. getting complicated cases of otherwise simple diseases when treating family members.

      • seniordatematch

the black guy is killed off the show, bbwfriends.net

      • erin

yea but that rule is kinda null and void considering there’s a lot of family at SGMW…Lexie and Mer are sisters, Derek and Mer are married, and Mer considers everyone there her famiily pretty much.

    • Cat

Dr. Avery got to be in the surgery of his grandfather (Dr. Harper Avery), he’s family, they should not have let him be IN the surgery!

So if Der needs a surge and Mer can do it – gor for it Mer!

  • TV Tam

Who writes this stuff? Surely ABC has copyeditors??? Its does NOT need an apostrophe.

    • THE READ HEAD

YES IT DOES…I.T.S DOES NEED AN APOSTROPHE…AS A CONTRACTION OF “IT IS” OR TO SHOW POSSESSION WHEN USED AS A PRONOUN.
TV TAM, YOU NEED TO LEARN PROPER GRAMMER!

      • Joe

Actually, only the contraction requires the apostrophe. There is no apostrophe with it when showing possession.

      • J

Wow, you’re just so wrong. And so loud about it, too.

      • cranky

        And it’s GRAMMAR. Spell much?

      • @The Read Head

Looks like you’re the one who needs to learn proper grammar. And internet etiquette too, I see.

      • nlnwi

I learned in 2nd grade that the only time “its” needs an apostrophe is when it’s a contraction for “it is.”

      • Kyle

I love it whenever someone moans about grammar on the internet, because everytime they seem to spell it grammer. XD

  • Jane

    “its’ history”?? Ouch.

    • Kay

All right folks, completely off-topic: its is the possessive pronoun for it (compare his to he), and has no apostrophe. it’s is a short form of it is. contradiction or not. its’ doesn’t exist.

  • S.Woods

Ahh, you got me…I’m glad it wasn’t very spoiler-y, though, I like surprises, I just’ can’t help readin these things!
    That crisis…it’s making me sleep-deprived…

    • mary q contrary

C’mon guys. Surely you have better things to do with your time.

      • Another Emma

Yes, of course, but isn’t it great fun just wasting time this way?

  • TvNutso

I still think they’re going to kill off Shepherd. Don’t want them to but it could happen.

    • Another Emma

I don’t think so. They may get him seriously injured, but kill him off? Never!!! [unless PD wants to leave the show of course...]

  • TV Tam

Nor does it need a comma before “on Grey’s Anatomy.” Sheesh!

  • Jenny

    Yeah, that sounds um… boring!!!

  • Amy

That sounds like the synopsis for every Grey’s episode… ever.

    • Liz

      LOL, it kinda does.

    • heather

I agree….yay.. yet another meredith and christina centered episode with some ridiculously unrealistic drama that we can all predict the outcome ot

      • Another Emma

        Aren’t those the best though?!

  • Robyn

I don’t see how they have any “surgical skills” when all they do is sleep with attendings in various, supposedly sterile areas of the hospital.

  • val

I feel like I won’t have a working guess until I see a promo with a deep-voiced announcer saying “It’s the one episode…that will change EVERYTHING” etc., etc. But bonus points for the ep title; I know GA uses song names for titles, and I particularly love that song.

  • PickyGrammatica

I hate to be picky, but “its’”? Really? I am disappointed Mr. Ausiello. . .

  • Gem

‘death; and all its friends? does the word death realte to merediths nick name from season 5?? do mer and cristina have to save dereks life? hmmm so many questions!

    • swthompson

This show generally names its titles for songs– Coldplay on their last CD had a song called “Death and All His Friends.”

      • Another Emma

The lyrics say “let’s get married, all summer we just hurried, so come over, just be patient and don’t worry”. It doesn’t sound at all bad if they want to give us the hint by using this song that the post-it wedding may become a real one…

  • TvAddict

They’re probably going to kill off Derek. Remember at the beginning of Season 5, when it was a dream of Meredith’s…I will vouch to say that they are going to use that scene in the season finale. My initial thoughts is that maybe Grey’s will then shoot 10 years in the future, as Ausiello has noted. They need to do something CRAZY to bring in more viewers. Just my thoughts!

    • Lindsay

ooohh that dream thing is a good idea! It must have been written in for some kind of reason, it’s very unShonda like to write something as big as that and never go back to it. I don’t think he’ll end up dying though, or at least he’ll only due for a few minutes like Meredith did.

    • Ana

I doubt it. PD has already said that he’ll be back next season and I think GA already learned not to mess with the dead anymore (Denny).
Maybe Derek will be seriously hurt but I don’t see him being killed off.

  • kazzer88

i feel like that divulged practically nothing. every single finale has a crisis on this show. meredith and cristina being tested in surgery is awesome, but unless its on someone they know its not really a shock. that said, they’d never be allowed to operate on anyone they’re romantically involved with.

if they’re going to kill off anyone i doubt it’d be an original cast member. they’re already slim pickins these days.

    • Jennifer

Well, it’s not like this show applies actual, real-life medical ethics to its plots anyway, so why not have Meredith & Cristina operate on Derek. And Owen. And Alex. And Lexie . . .
