'Friday Night Lights' exclusive: H'wood Freshman Cast as Buddy Jr.

friday-night-lightsImage Credit: Bill Records/NBC; jeffrosick.comWhen Friday Night Lights brings the character of Buddy Jr. back for its fifth season (premiering on DirecTV this fall), he’ll not only have a new face, he’ll also have a new, though hardly improved, attitude. I’m told that rookie actor Jeff Rosick’s version of Buddy’s son will be, let’s say, troubled.

Apparently, the now-16-year-old enjoyed his two years in California — so much so that his growing pains only really begin when he’s dragged home to Dillon. Translation: In spite of his sweet heart, the words “temper, temper” will likely be directed at him with some regularity.

Rosick will appear on a recurring basis throughout season 5.

So what do you think, Ausholes? Ready for some more teen angst? Or are you too preoccupied with this Friday’s fourth season premiere on NBC to be thinking yet about what’ll happen when the fifth season hits DirecTV?

Sounds like he belongs on Wisteria Lane, hacking people with a saw.

Bring on Season 5!! And tell me where I have to go to rally for a Season 6!

You have to convince Jason Katims & Peter Berg to keep the show going first, which is highly unlikely.

Yeah, that’s a long shot, but I’d love it too. The series still feels fresh and full of possibilities to me.

Well, if they can’t bring back the old kid – that kid was cast perfectly.

Wow. Seriously, though, they couldn’t have found a better look-a-like.

By far Friday Night Lights is the best show on TV. Why the network doesn’t renew is a mystery to me. It is very disappointing to lose a show that is so true to life and has wonderful stories and great actors to portray these characters.

wow he looks a lot like Buddy!

The only thing I can say so far is great casting. The little girl they had playing his youngest daughter in the past really looks like she could be Brad Leland’s kid and now this dude does too.

I think it’s cool they are bringing Buddy Jr. back even though I hate when they re-cast people but he does look like the old Buddy Jr. so I can deal with it lol. I love Buddy when he’s being a dad and now with Lyla gone I’m all for them bringing on another one of Buddy’s kids!

    FNL goes SORAS? :(

  • Jenny

I guess that means more screen time for Buddy who is always a great character.

Is Buddy going to make him play for the Lions so that Coach can whip him into shape?

Or will he play for the Panthers, giving Buddy split loyalties? Hmmmm.

Still the best show NBC has, too bad they can’t recognize what they have. last night they even cut out the next weeks preview… Wish we had the old cast back but am hoping the newbies fill in the blank spaces. Just a great show
