'Sons of Anarchy' exclusive: Stephen King to appear on FX show

sons-anarchy-kingImage Credit: Mike Muller/FX; Inset: Gina James/Retna Ltd.Stephen King will make a special appearance on Sons of Anarchy when the biker drama returns for a third season on FX this September. King, who is a columnist for Entertainment Weekly, will play a quiet loner who appears in Gemma’s (Katey Sagal) time of need. The producers learned that King was a fan of the drama, so they reached out to the author for a possible cameo. King will appear in the third episode.

Sons generated a lot of momentum in its second season, averaging 4.5 million total viewers and 3.16 million adults between the ages of 18-49. It ranked as the most-watched basic cable scripted series of the year in men 18-49 and was the second most watched among adults 18-49.  Among all returning series - on cable and broadcast - Sons also showed the largest season-to-season growth in adults 18-49 (+81 percent), men 18-49 (+80 percent) and total viewers (+72 percent).

I Love SoA and I cannot wait for the new season to begin! Jax!

  • Tommy Marx

I watched the first season on DVD a few weeks ago and was blown away by how good it is. I’ll sure other people will argue for “Shield”, but I think this is the best show FX has ever done.

  • pbt

Love Sons of Anarchy it is right behind my other major obsession, True Blood on HBO. Love me some Jaxx.

    • melissa

  • Nick Warhead

SOA along with Breaking Bad, is one of the best shows on TV…

    • Eric

      Yep that’s the truth

    • Joyce

Yeah, but at least Breaking Bad gets recognition for their good work (Emmy awards, etc). But nothing for SOA. That is so wrong.

    • Bea

I agree…both very intense and leaves you wanting more…

  • jules

    this show rocks…

I like the show, but I think they botched the season 2 finale with over-the-top plotting. A runaway Irishman takes Jax’s baby? On a boat, no less? Gemma is framed by the marshal lady and goes on the lam? They have Zobelle in their sights and just let him go? Blood feuds that have been building for 2 seasons suddenly dropped? I do hope the show recovers because I do like the show despite my criticisms.

    • Betzblue

It’s called “cliffhangers” man. That’s what freaking drama is all about…I think the finale was perfection. But then I am a SONS fan & love the brilliance that is Kurt Sutter.

      • Lady Marble

I do agree with betzblue, however they really made a bad choice with jax losing it, I mean he’s a big bad biker dude, my man would have done anything to get his son back, trust me, he is in a hard club & let me tell you he would have not lost it, he would have gone after that SOB anyway he could to get his son back. but it does set the stage for season 3, we shall see what happens. the trailers look great & as usuall the episodes are jam packed I hope.

    • Quagmire

Betz got it right. Last season’s finale sets the tone for season 3. If you watched The Shield at all you would recgonize Sutter’s writing style. He could make an entire season out of the loose ends on season 2 and the feuds could work their way back into the show at the end of the season, and lead into season 4.

    • Kevin

I agree actually, I love the show but that cliffhanger ending was pretty ridiculous… way, way over the top. Sometimes it’s just good to wrap things up at the end of a season and go out on a high note, a la The Sopranos. Still, nothing will keep me from watching the show this fall.

  • vanessa
