Eko would still be part of the show, I’m sure, if the actor had wanted to stay. I liked him but thought his story was sort of played out, and we got to learn more about Smokey because of the way Eko died. For me, the deaths of Ana Lucia and Libby were the most shocking in “Lost” chiefly because they were killed by Michael, a sympathetic character. I thought Charlie’s death was too contrived. It just didn’t feel organic to me even though I liked the character of Charlie, and liked his “best moments in my life” list.

This is unrelated to Mr. Eko, but sometime back I could have sworn I read that there would be a “love interest” for Ben (don’t know if it meant Sideways Ben or Island Ben). There’s only a few hours left – when are we going to see this manifest?

My guess is there will be a few character “hook-ups” during the finale, probably at the wedding of Sideways John Locke and Helen Norwood. Seems most logical to me.

    thumbs down.

you know African American characters have really been portrayed negatively on LOST (I guess Rose is somewhat positive) making Michael a traitor and Mr.Eko a drug dealer, Walt is growing up without a dad who he hated…I just noticed that?

Really you could say that any (pick one) race on the show has been shown in a negative light if you wanted to go at it that way. I mean Sawyer and Kate are murderers and con artists, they’re white. Ana Lucia took the law into her hands and also killed a man, she’s Hispanic. Sayid – a hitman, Middle Eastern. Jin – an enforcer for the mob, Asian. I tried to see your point but I really can’t see how this is a race thing.

What’s interesting is that when the show began it was really different in that it treated all these multi-culti characters in a rich, fully realized way–they weren’t relegated to funny sidekick or soulful wise person or whatever. That ended when the focus shifted to the love triangle in S3 once the show became a phenomenon and never looked back. Was that because of network dictate?

*blows whistle and throws yellow flag* Unnecessary use of the the ‘race card’. Ten-yard penalty.

        Excellent^^^

Grrr. This stinks! Yeah, I was a Mr. Eko fan who was hoping he’d resurface somehow. I still love lost, but Eko was my favorite character in Season 2.

  • Rob Grizzly

Damn. He was the only dead character to not make at least 1 reappearance. After Keamy and Patchy, He was the one I wanted to see the most this season.

Maybe this is just a diversion to stop spoilers. Or it’s just my wishful thinking.

Wait, this guy chose to get killed off because he didn’t want to be seen as Mr. Eko for his career, and is now begging to be back on but they don’t want him? Waaaaaaah.

Although Eko was a great character, it’s good that they were not able to bring him back … Just like it was lame for George Lucas to bring Han Solo back in Jedi.

I would have loved to see Mr. Eko, but it’s clear that the producers bear a grudge of some sort toward the actor. They couldn’t reach a deal? Oh please, please give me a break. These are the same guys who prevented each of the actors from working during the run of the series. Oh, except Matthew Fox in ONE movie. They had a cast of relative unknowns and I’m sure their contracts were little better than bondage.

Mr Eko was a really great character. I wish he could have returned in the sideways world.
