Image Credit: Robert Voets/CBSIn what is fast becoming one of my favorite annual traditions here at Entertainment Weekly, Jim Parsons dropped by our offices last week to shoot the poop on all things Big Bang Theory. In addition to previewing next week’s eventful flashback episode (exclusive clips included!), the Emmy shoo-in revealed the real story behind Sheldon’s season-ending “romance” with Blossom (a.k.a. Mayim Bialik), and opened up about the joys of working with a cast that is clean, sober, and so not insane. Bonus scoop: Look out for an answer to a recent Bang-themed asterisk quiz! Enjoy!

Didn’t THE ODD COUPLE also do episodes on how Felix and Oscar met (or early in their friendships) and how they met Murray the Cop,etc?
Yes they did. There were several versions of that first meeting
I look forward to being able to see some of the background of these characters. Love this show, although I’m probably in the minority in that I liked the earlier two seasons better than the current one.
I agree with you. The first season has been my favorite so far.
Me too. I miss Howard being single and am thankful that Peonard is over
Or is it?
Hardly. Most everyone I’ve talked to prefers pre-Penny/Leonard.
Someone’s comment implied that everyone is glad that Leonard & Penny are broken up.
Not true!
My husband just said that he hopes they get back together…and I agree…I’ve waited a long time for them to get together…the relationship works!
I’m with you there also Nikki. I like Penny/Leonard, love that the geek got the girl.
However I do agree that the better and more intruiging pairing is Leonard/Sheldon and understandably that relationship is the primary focus of the show.
Most everyone I’ve talked to either dislikes Leonard and Penny or is at best indifferent.
I agree with you too. the whole penny/leonard relationship was good, but then they tried adding drama to it and it started going down hill and hasnt really landed yet.
i can’t wait to see the flashback episode … that will be awesome!
agreed! I liked season one and two equally; three has been all over the map.
What a charming, cool guy Jim Parsons is. And the scene where they’re looking around for their future selves is hysterical! Thanks for posting this!
Beth, watch his three interviews on youtube with Late, Late host Craig Ferguson. You’ll enjoy them.
Thanks, I’ll definitely check that out!
I saw an interview Craig did with Jim, and that’s why I started watching BBT. I figured that if he was that funny in an interview, I should check out his sitcom.
Jim Parsons is always a treat in interviews, this was no exception. Finding out he is confused with Sheldon was refreshing and comforting. I also couldn’t stop laughing at them looking around for themselves.
That was epic. So looking for to those episodes! Also, Jim Parsons is awesome.
If Jim Parsons doesn’t win an Emmy, something is wrong in this world
It’s the Emmy. They always blow it.
I agree with you Tara. Jim Parsons deserves an Emmy. My 70 year old Dad rarely watches any TV shows, but he enjoys watching Sheldon on the show. That really says a lot to me about how great he is. I can’t get enough of watching Jim in interviews as well. He is so quirky and somewhat like his character in a way. Too cute.
OMG great interview and insight into the show! LOVE this show!

That was intensely INTERESTING.
I loved hearing him talk about his acting process.

Why are they dressed like it’s the 80′s? And Sheldon is not? Does that drive anyone else absolutely nuts?!?!
Jim Parsons said in the interview that he figured out Sheldon doesn’t really like change.
Yes, but this should be in the early aughts, not the 80s. I was confused at that. And shouldn’t Howard be dressed the same as his style is based on the 60s Beatles?
I know a lot of guys like them–they’re not the type of people to be fashion forward. A lot of the guys I knew in college were *at least* 10 years behind the times without any real knowledge that they were.
