British actress Lara Pulver — best known from the BBC drama Robin Hood — has landed the recurring role of Sookie’s fairy godmother, Claudine.
I’ve never read Charlaine Harris’ Southern Vampire books, but I’m told that the character of Claudine plays a critical part in at least two of them.

No he does not. Because Sookie’s life is always in danger, she gets a fairy godmother who is basically working her way up to the next level of fairyhood lets say.
And also, according to the books (which from what I gather, the show doesn’t follow exactly) the Fairy relative of Sookie & Jason doesn’t like Jason very much. (the reason doesn’t come out until the 9th book)
There’s a big fairy connection, indeed. Jason turns out to be a dead-ringer for another fairy who appears in the 2 most recent books. The fairies don’t exactly look like Sookie; that isn’t their connection to her…
To keep spoilers to a minimum, Jason is the same as Sookie, and technically, Claudine would look after both Jason and Sookie. Nuff said.
all i am going to say with out giving to much away is NO Jason will not get a FAIRY god mother. No Jayson is not the same as Sookie according to the books. I have read all of them and i cant get enough
No Jason does as far as I know. I am only on the 7th book. Claudine is related to them. But it seems that Sookie is the only one who carries the “fairy gene”. I was kind of shocked that trueblood put that in the show so early since it’s not found out until the 6th book…towards the end. I can’t remember though when Claudine is introduced into the books I think the fourth book I am just wondering if Claude..Claudine brother will make an appearance.
No he not. He carries Fairy Blood but the Genes Did not show up much.He smells Human. Sookie Smells Fairy. That and the fact she Telepathic and he not is a small clue. LOL

None of the actors, except maybe thoes playing Sam and Arlene, look anything like how I envisioned. I have long ago resigned myself to treating the books and show as to completely separate entities.
Seriously? Eric is exactly what I imagined. Blonde, 6’4″ Viking? His character has been assassinated in TB, but Alexander Skarsgard it was casting genius. The Sam and Jason characters are pretty spot-on, too. Bill, not so much, and Sookie, not even close.

Not exactly how I pictured Claudine, but I am going to hold out judgment. I can’t wait to see who they pick to play Claude

She may not look as gorgeous as you think she is supposed to be in that little picture, but with the exception of Evan Rachel Wood, Alan Ball’s casting has been pretty much spot on for this show, so I’m willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. The real question is: Will she have the pointy ears?
Evan Rachel Wood is perfect for Queen Sophie Anne. Alan Ball described her character as a cross between Paris Hilton and Patrick Bateman. And Evan Rachel Wood played the role that way.
Yeah, well that description of Sophie Anne sucks. Evan is playing her as AB described. Alan totally screwed that character up.
Evan was wonderful in that role! People don’t like her just because she is a bit… weird and goes out with Manson. BUT she is a great actress, and a great Queen Sophie Anne.
I agree, I think Wood has done a great job as Queen Sophie-Ann so far. The character from the books wasn’t very TV adaptable. She was very quiet, very boring, and that doesn’t translate well to TV. I like that Alan Ball has changed that up a bit, it makes it more interesting. I love all the characters on the show! They are all fascinating, different and unique!

A fairy hasn’t appeared yet. Maryann was a Maenad, not a fairy.
I wonder why they didn’t use the same actress who played Claudine in the original True Blood pilot. Alan had that scene with her cut out so he wouldn’t make it obvious what Sookie really was.
