Breaking: ABC picks up 'No Ordinary Family' starring Michael Chiklis

michael-chiklisImage Credit: Jerritt Clark/WireImage.comWe still don’t know the status of Heroes on NBC, but at least ABC will bring a superhero drama to prime time next fall. The network announced today that it has picked up No Ordinary Family starring Michael Chiklis (The Shield) -  a drama about a family with amazing new abilities. Besides Chiklis, the series also stars Julie Benz (Dexter) and Tate Donovan (Damages). It’s executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Jon Feldman, Morgan Wandell and David Semel.

Earlier today, Heroes co-star Greg Grunberg posted an update on his Twitter account saying “ haven’t heard anything official re: Heroes for next season. Hope it gets picked up.”

All the broadcast nets will announce their fall lineups next week in New York.

Sounds fun and interesting! Liked Chiklis in the Fantastic Four so he should be good in this, too.

Michael Chiklis on my tv is always a welcomed sight; love the rest of the cast too. Benz won over my heart as Darla, and I have been a fan of Tate Donovan since he did Love Potion No.9 with Sandra Bullock.

As far as Heroes is concerned, I will be very surprised if the network gives it another season.

This has got awesome pilot written all over it just like Modern Family had last year. Just hope it turns into the awesome series that Modern Family became this season.

I am so psyched! Michael Chiklis is a great actor and a really nice guy so I am psyched that his new show got picked up!

  • ggny

is autumn reeser still apart of the cast?

  • Lyn

Not fair, I know, but after loving Chiklis in his super-gritty role in “The Shield,” I just don’t know if I’ll like him in something that sounds goofy. We’ll see.

Michael Chikilis is hot! I will more than welcome him to my DVR.

    • that’s

Does this mean that Julie Benz is done with “Desperate Housewives”?

    • Jethro

Yes, she moved to Paris with Katherine (Dana Delaney). That story line wrapped up weeks ago.

  • Buddy

Scrap FlashForward and V, they will simply never work, and throw all your money behind this ABC. Could be great.

  • Heidi

I worked on that show!!! Background work of course but it was too fun!!! Hopefully I will see myself

I watched the pilot in an online survey last week. It’s dull, weak and disjointed. Not compelling. It’s trying way too hard to be Modern Family meets The Incredibles. Characters are not endearing and it suffers from the whole fat guy has a hot wife conceit. So.. it should do well.

What survey place did you go to?

  • Julie Anderton

@Miles: What superpowers did the characters have?
