Every subsequent episode of Parenthood has been better than the Pilot. NBC probably reckons Parenthood won’t be able to break through with the Emmys ala FNL or they would have given it more of a fighting chance.

  • Hybrid87

That being said, even Parenthood’s weakest episode should be enough to land it an Outstanding Drama nod. My wishlist for Outstanding Drama: Breaking Bad, Dexter, Friday Night Lights, Justice, Parenthood and True Blood.

Kara-Broken was not self-indulgent. A House-centric episode could not be such. The show is called House, not Cuddy!

And the Wilson episode far outshone the Cuddy one.

The Son absolutely deserves an Emmy…Zach Gilford is an absolutely fantastic actor, no one else could’ve have done what he did in that episode. FNL should’ve won a loooong time ago

I hope it was only because of the deadline, because the paintball ep Modern Warfare needed to get an emmy nom. I hope someone from that show gets one. Abed (aka Danny Pudi)? Please?

  • Chels725

It was because of the deadline or else it most likely would’ve been in with the pilot.

  • Will

    Broad Channel was pathetic.

  • Liz

Greg Pikitis is still my favorite ep of P&R. Also the episode of Community that was on last week (the paintball one) deserves an Emmy and I hope it will be submitted. PS If Jay Leno wins any kind of Emmy I will be boycotting.

  • Jake

Community’s paintball episode was an immensely fun and perfectly executed (literally) half hour of comedy, covering the range of the action genre from Die Hard to John Woo. Great episode.

  • m

@ jake & liz – i agree, that episode of community was perfect but i think it aired after the mailer date. booo….

  • dawnomite

Agreed, the Debate ep is one of my favorites and I quote it all the time.

  • Billiam

I strong disagree with Community’s choices. The show has been so much stronger lately than it was at first. And seeing the pilot isn’t really that important to understanding the show.

  • c

I loved the debate episode…I liked it better than the pilot.

  • Ron

I think they should have submitted “Contemporary American Poultry” (the chicken fingers mafia ep.)

  • Jake

The chicken fingers Goodfellas episode of Community was stellar

  • dawnomite

Yes! This was my fave ep of a horrible SNL season. Loved both “Hamm and Bubbly!”

  • toonaspie

Indeed. My friend and I never laughed so hard in our lives when we were watching that episode…and it was very well written.

  • Chels725

Modern Warfare didn’t make it because of the mailing deadline but it still will probably make it on the formal submissions.

  • Chels725

I get why they submitted the Pilot though. It introduces the voters to the show and the second episode submitted shows everything after it’s established. It makes sense but there are a bunch of episodes that are better than the Pilot.

  • amber

    me too!

  • binkybinky

Yeah I think it was because of the deadline – otherwise Contemporary American Poultry and last week’s Modern Warfare would’ve been the ones submitted. Everyone agrees those were the best of the season.

  • Racehl

I love Jimmy. Just because you don’t think he is funny doesn’t mean other people don’t. I believe he DOES deserve an Emmy. Go Jimmy!

  • Billiam

Please read other comments. And also the first paragraph of the article. Please read anything.

  • Billiam

There’s nothing wrong with submitting an episode. Though, yes… not much chance. And that wasn’t an especially strong episode.
