The network confirmed today that it has picked up the single-camera comedy Happy Endings for fall that stars Cuthbert as a bride who breaks up with her groom at the altar. It’s one of three laughers that earned orders today by ABC. The others are Mr. Sunshine, a Matthew Perry (Friends) starrer about the owner of a sports arena, and Better Together, a comedy with Joanna Garcia (Privileged) that focuses on two sisters in different stages of their romantic relationships.
More pickups for fall are expected soon. ABC already ordered No Ordinary Family, the high-concept drama starring Michael Chiklis (The Shield) as the patriarch of a family with super powers.

Very excited about Matthew Perry–he was always my favorite on Friends and really quite good on Studio 60, even though that show as a whole didn’t quite work.
Could you *BE* any more excited?
Hah, awesome comment. Ditto on Matthew Perry excitement.
elisha cuthbert makes me want to cut myself.
Sounds pretty bad. More flops for ABC.
Elisha Cuthbert makes me want to do something else with myself…
Hi Yo!!!!
More trashy comedies.
I really enjoy Joanna Garcia (and I miss Privileged!), but I don’t have particularly high hopes for any of these shows. The Matthew Perry one sounds intriguing though.
Where in the hell did they get that picture of Matthew Perry? He looks awful! I hope he’s not using again!
… looks like he’s been using cupcakes.
Mathew is now 40 going on 41. You [and most of the USA] need to stop watching old ‘Friends’ reruns and come into the 21st Cnetury
I still haven’t gotten over the cancellation of Privileged. That was such an underrated show and Joanna Garcia is a gem. I’ll give anything she does a shot!
…none of these sound better than Better off Ted but I’m willing to give Matthew Perry a chance.
Way to go Matthew! Welcome back to TV. You’ve been missed!!
The Matthew Perry show sounds intriguing. I’m not a big fan of his, but then again I didn’t really like Courtney Cox or Patricia Heaton and their ABC shows are great!
ABC should have actually promoted ‘Better Off Ted’.
Yep, they really blew it with that show. They put repeats of The Middle or Modern Family on at the 8:00 time slot on Wednesdays, when they could have place BOT there and had a solid Wednesday comedy block.
I was in a focus group for Mr. Sunshine while in Vegas this past May and watched the pilot episode. It was funny. The girl who who was in Better Off Ted and The Class is also in this series. Allison Janney’s character in the show was the most hilarious character I’ve seen since Megan Mullaly in Will and Grace. I can’t wait to see more episodes.
Wow – she should have mentioned Allison Janney in the announcement. I think she’s fantastic. Now I’m actually a little interested.
could they have picked a worse pic of Matthew Perry? That is scarily close to Nick Nolte-ish, lol!
It looks more like he just woke up from a night in the gutter! XD
Great news about “Mr. Sunshine”. Matthew is an excellent actor and I am pretty sure that this new comedy will be very sucessful
Mr Sunshine -
Just watched the clips. They canceled Better Off Ted for this? The show is an obvious, cobbled together mix of other comedy shows.
Sad.
