ABC has picked up the Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice boss’ latest medical-themed drama, Off the Map, for fall. Additionally, the Alphabet network has ordered to series Body of Proof, a crime procedural starring former Desperate Housewives star Dana Delany.
Map — starring Without a Trace grad Enrique Murciano, current Grey’s doc Jason George, Wonderfalls‘ Caroline Dhavernas, and Rhimes fave Martin Henderson — centers on a team of medical professionals who flee the U.S. to work at a clinic on a tropical island. Jenna Bans penned the script and Betsy Beers is exec-producing alongside Rhimes. Body, meanwhile, centers on a brilliant and tenacious medical examiner (Delany) whose background as a neurosurgeon gives her a unique and refreshing crime-solving perspective at the ME’s office — one that often puts her at odds with just about everyone who crosses her path.
Map and Body join previously announced ABC pickups Detroit 187, No Ordinary Family, Generation Y, The Whole Truth, Mr. Sunshine, Better Together, and Happy Endings.
Shonda Rhimes needs to stop.

Stop *and* go away. Stat. her latest sounds terrible. The Dana Delaney show echoes House MD, but she’s fantastic. She played an FBI agent recently on Castle, and it just reminded how much she was wasted on Desperate Housewives. Delaney is *awesome*.
Then I guess we can assume that dana delany wont be showing up on castle for a while.

Dana Delany was NOT GOOD on Castle. She was not believable in any way. I’m glad to see she’ll be playing a physician instead of a cop in the new series.

Um, she needs to stop what? Working. You do realize that ABC is her boss and she would be foolish to simply turn down work. She is the first and only African American woman in the history of television to create and run her own show. Perhaps it is you guys who should stop…no START your own TV shows then you can write what you want to see.
um, no… she needs to stop making bad medical shows… she could be the first person to ever cure cancer for all i care, doesn’t change the fact that her two hugely similar shows are crap now and she needs to either get behind an original idea or go do something else.
Grey’s first seasons were great. It started to go downhill when Private Practice was introduced.

Actually she isn’t the first and only Black woman in the history of television to create and run her own show. Maybe in prime time, but what about Living Single, For your Love, Girlfriends, Half and Half, The Game???

FlashForward was canceled because the ratings were in the toilet, unfortunately.
And the ratings were in the toilet because the writers never made good on a great idea. And then there was the casting… ugh. I wanted FF to be great – and it could have been – but it just fell so very short.

Totally agree w/Tarc …. well said. Great idea for a show but lousy execution. The long layover didn’t help either. FF losts its momentum and never quite got it back …. that’s a shame.
As Tarc says, Flash Forward was horrible a few episodes in cause they failed to capitalize on a good idea, personally i think it would’ve been better off as a miniseries…. it was just plain uninteresting after a point…

Season 6 of Grey’s was a bit better than Season 3 but still has far to go. PP had a decent season (if you watched last night’s finale).

That’s the truth. Reading the synopsis for this show made me roll my eyes, but I just can’t resist the powers of Caroline Dhavernas. Being so amazing as Jaye Tyler makes me love her forever.
But, if it weren’t for that, I’d say screw it. Shonda Rhimes really really really bugs me. She seems full of herself. After this, she needs to stop.

Well DD could be back on Wisteria Lane before you know it if her show doesn’t do well. Although truthfully there’s not much for her to over there anymore. I liked her character though.
