Image Credit: Sylvain Gaboury/PR Photos; Glenn Harris/PR Photos; Albert L. Ortega/PR Photos; Tina Gill/PR PhotosFox will add three new dramas and four new comedies to the schedule next season that is “designed to be aggressive, not just to maintain.” Talking with reporters today in anticipation of the network’s presentation to advertisers in New York, Entertainment President Kevin Reilly touted the network’s new “modern-day Dallas” in Lonestar that stars Jon Voight (24) and talked about the coup in scoring Keri Russell (Felicity) for the comedy Running Wilde that also stars Will Arnett. He also announced that Fox will air a special episode of Glee when the network airs the Super Bowl next year.
As usual, the conversation veered toward American Idol and its future without judge Simon Cowell. ”Auditions don’t begin until September, so we do have time,” explains Fox Entertainment Chairman Peter Rice. ”There is no bigger question for the summer.”
By far, the network’s most ambitious project for next season is Terra Nova, a high-concept drama from the auspices of Steven Spielberg, ex-Fox Chairman Peter Chernin, agent-turned-producer Aaron Kaplan and scribe Brannon Braga (24). The prehistoric, time-traveling drama is in pre-production and has yet to be cast but Reilly says they’ve already hired the production designer from Avatar to work on the special effects (the show will feature dinosaurs). Because of the size of the production — it is expected to shoot in Hawaii — the show has yet to earn a time slot on the midseason schedule.
Finally, Fox did not say what it plans to do on Saturdays now that it has canceled The Wanda Sykes Show.

Human Target to Fox Friday nights? The slot of death? Gee, thanks, guys.
Smallville is on its 10 SEASON! and is on Fridays so don’t count those eggs till it gets there – SV has been doing fine
Yep hes right, theres even gunna be a season 11 of Smallville so im sure it’ll be ok. xx
Yes, but that’s the CW. This is Fox. Fox’s Friday night time slot is the slot of death. Many a good show is put there to be slowly starved to death. Not sure why Friday works for other networks and not Fox, but that’s how it’s been so far.
I will have to disagree with andrew…smallville is not doing okay. they average less than 3 million people each week, that’s horrible! the only reason it’s going on is because dawn ostroff from the cw is an idiot.
Can you say Dollhouse, Firefly? Firefly, slot of death.
For the CW, Smallville is still doing very well. It’s still one of its top-rated shows, even after 9 years.
Granted, Smallville’s longevity might owe something to the fact that the WB and CW don’t have much that could fill its void, but the fact that it’s still a ratings powerhouse (for the CW) means it’s not just lack of options on Ostroff’s part.
CW doesn’t air as widely as Fox, ABC, NBC, and CBS, so of course its numbers are going to be lower.
It has been 1 years alrealdy since i retired from the military. I’m 30 ,rich but

Smallville’s move to friday nights was recent, it used to come on on thursday
Friday night? What’s next – is Joss Whedon going to take over the show? What did the “Human Target” guys do to deserve this kind of treatment?
But Joss Whedon is awesome…. I’d watch if he took over the show.
You are one of 20 people who like Human Target. Get over it.
Make that 21 Josh
Make that 22
23
23
Ooopss… 24
Five squared!
26 and counting…
Sorry, all you guys were counted already in the original 20.
LMAO!
27. Timeslots don’t mean a thing to me. I cancelled cable and only have internet, but between Hulu and Netflix I can watch it all. Soon these ‘slots’ won’t mean a damn thing. P.S. Lie to Me blows serious chunks. Less procedural dramas please.
28!
Hey, at least there’s going to BE a 2nd season! It wasn’t too long ago I was hearing it was pretty much a goner. I’m just happy to get more!
Very happy to see Human Target on the schedule. It’s an expensive show to produce, so it had better draw a big audience. Would watch anything with Mark Valley in it.
One has to wonder why they even bothered putting it in their midseason schedule.
The X-files did all right on Fridays too.
Friday nite is party nite. Hardly anyone’s home.
Think about it though they originaly renewed human target for 13 eps here it is put year round on the schedule. episode upgrade anyone?
I agree. Human Target is excellent!! I hope the quality does not go down now that it is set up for failure!!
I’m looking at this and thinking “I only watch 2 shows”. And I’ll be waiting for both of them on Sky1 in the UK (they’re Fringe and House). I feel like TV is going downhill
Nah, TV is excellent currently. From FOX, you might as well watch Bones which airs on Sky1. Sons of Anarchy on Bravo, Breaking Bad and Justified on Five USA and also – Lost is about to end.
TV is doing just fine, as it always has. You just have to know where to look.
don’t be afraid to watch older stuff Abi. I want to thank you guys accross the pnd for IT Crowd, The Mighty Boosh and Garth Merenghi. I wish our sitcoms were a bit more like yours.
you can say that again & again tv should get back to entertainment of all types, give us some variety
I was hoping for “The Good Guys” to be midweek, but I guess my DVR will be in effect for Friday night.
I am glad to know that I am not the only one who has hope for “The Good Guys”. It’s a shame about Friday.
Good Guys is stupid. It’s like Turner and Hooch except this time Hooch is an old cop.
We’ve got House, Bones and Fringe – everything with Fox is good…now lets check the others
Lonestar?…Seriously? Why can’t it be House, then Fringe?
I’m really confused. If The Good Guys is airing this summer, how are they on the fall scedule? Reruns? I can’t see having S2 immediately after S1.
Fox ordered a total of 20 episodes. It looks like they’ll air 6-7 in the summer and then 13 in the fall.
Oh, I didn’t know that. Thanks, Christian!
I take back any kudos I gave Fox for retaining Human Target! It’s Dollhouse all over again! Fox execs: renewing a borderline show AND THEN putting in the Friday night death-slot is the WORST kind of bait-and-switch! This is WORSE than putting HT out on it’s own BEFORE the American Idol results show, instead of tucking it afterwards in a virtual ratings mecca! Boo and hiss on you!
Ditto.
They should have just sold HT to USA where it would make FOX look stupid
They did the same thing to Terminator SCC.
What the hell, why did they move Human Target to the Friday Night death slot. Do they want it to get cancelled because I don’t, hopefully it can survive because I love this show.
Me too! Move Glee to Friday night.
Aw come on! I already have enough trouble watching glee and not missing it. Moving it to an hour earlier makes me mad. Oh well. Looks like I’m buying a DVR.
So glad American Idol results show is getting cut to just a half hour!
But Glee is still going to show after it, which means it will still always run over, which means most DVR’s will still miss the amazing final few minutes of Glee!
I know you should’t have to but…you do know you can set your DVR to tape extra minutes after a show is scheduled. Since you know AI will always run over set it up so it tapes 10 minutes after Glee is suppose to end. That way you won’t miss it. It’s easy to do.
I like the concept of a half hour results show too. Isn’t that what everyone has been saying for years?
If I recall correctly, the results show was only a half hour for years..only in the past few seasons did they make it an hour. Soo happy its back to a half hour. Way to much filler and other crap currently that I find myself for the first time in years passing on watching it.
I was hoping that House might move to the 9 slot so I can stop having Chuck/House conflicts!
I was hoping for NBC to move Chuck to 9pm for the same reason, but NBC wants to kill damn near everything they have except for Thursday nights, so screw ‘em. I’ll continue to record House and watch it after I watch Chuck. House has at least another season after 7 anyway because Hugh was signed till then, if I recall correctly, so it’s not in danger of going anywhere.
I agree! Although, I figured it would make more sense to move Chuck. The House season finale is tonight, but I can’t watch it right away because Chuck comes first! Grr. There is too much amazing tv on Monday.
Like Glee’s move to 8 p.m. — I get up far too early to watch a show that ends at 10. Now I can sometimes watch it live (and discuss it with my students the next day) instead of always DVRing it.
Yeah, but Glee will be moving to Wed 9-10pm during the Spring. I hope people will follow the move well…
I think moving time slots halfway through the year is totally unfair to Glee. Although I like the Wed time slot much better! Why can’t they put it in that time slot to start, and just keep it there!
It’s moving to make room for the AI results show. I don’t think it will have any trouble keeping the audience. In fact, it may gain viewers.
I’m pretty sure Glee will be okay. Between it being the friggin Super Bowl show this year and being put in the sweet, sweet “post-Idol” slot in the spring, I don’t think Glee is in any danger from flighty fans. One hopes.
I sincerely hope that the 8:00 slot for Glee does not mean that this will become a “family” show and lose its edginess. Please don’t give in to the parents who complain that the show has too much sex for their 8 year old!
Edginess? Ha. I like the show. But saying it’s edgy is a bit lofty.
What? There’s a gay character and a pregnant teenager. TOTALLY edgy!
Ummmm, have you seen the “Push It” performance?
Being a gay or pregnant teen is edgy? “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” has a pregnant teen and no one would call that show edgy. It’s no Glee, but neither is edgy.
Fringe, House, Lie To Me and Human Target. I am at peace with Fox’s fall schedule. Next.
After Fringe would be a sweet slot for HT. But really, all my focus right now is on Burn Notice season 4 premiere in June. SEASON 4
Fringe still on Thursdays? Oh, come ON! Put it on Mondays paired with HOUSE! What is this Dallas remake called Lonestar? Total squick!
Totally agree, Fringe has had a very strong year and deserves a much better time slot then it currently has.
It is not a ‘remake’, they used ‘Dallas’ as a reference. Just like whne movies say ‘it’s X mixed with Y’
