I’m actualy glad, this way they can promote the heck out of this season and let it end on a high note. 10 seasons is a loooong time, it is time for Clark to put up his red jacket and put on those tights

DO never gave a flip about her top-performing show anyway so, big deal! DO will be all a-twitter about such epics like Melrose Place 2.0, Gossip Girl, and that ratings powerhouse – 90210. Those are the shows that she cares about so why care if TW announces it a day earlier? Of, I forgot – it’s because he scooped Ausiello!

Love that he said it like it was. Why shouldn’t he? For 10 years, he’s been the show. If he knows it’s over, then he has every right to tell anyone he wants about it. Good for him.

I think Tom has earned the right to announce this any damned way he pleases. The CW couldn’t be bothered to support the show all season, and DO has never supported the show.

Best of luck to Tom Welling! Always.

AMEN Valerie. Happy to hear this news come from Tom.

“Discretion and restraint are clearly not among Tom Welling’s superpowers.”
And ability not to be condescending and insulting are clearly not among yours.

You could have reported this without taking a dig at Welling in the process. Twice.

The man has carried this show for nine seasons, going into season 10 now. He was the face of Smallville before CW even existed.
So if anyone earned the right to announce this news, it’s Welling. And he shouldn’t be forced to lie about it when asked, just so he could announce it two days later.

And did anyone really believe this wouldn’t be the last season of Smallville? This is news how exactly?

    • Brian

      EXACTLY.
How about some journalistic integrity? Maybe Ausiello’s bummed he didn’t get to announce the news. Who knows.

  • Carrie Ann

I’m glad he spilled the beans. I’d rather hear it from him than Ostroff. Why didn’t they just make this announcement at the same time they announced the show was renewed? Even though I saw it coming, I’m still a little sad the show is ending.

  • Joey

Wait. Someone is still watching Smallville?

    • Jonnny

Yeah Joey! It’s an AWESOME show. Seriously, watch Salvation – the season 9 finale. You will be sooo amazed! I’M DEAD SERIOUS.

    • Lory

why you are bothering yourself and writing craps here !! smallville is a great show and a lot million people watch it !!!

What’s the matter Mike…annoyed that an actor was actually honest and didn’t play stupid mind games or word tricks like you do? LOL

Welling is just an honest guy. He was asked a question and he answered it honestly. This is why the Smallville fans love him because he’s not a liar and he’s just an honest guy. Love him and love Smallville.

Its most likely the show decided it was time to end it and notified the network. Networks usually don’t cancel shows this far in advance on their own.

    • Tommy

CW is pathetic, they want to milk SV until its tits are dry, what?? really, he is just being honest not lying to fans. anyway TW has been known to lie as well, he said he wasnt gonna sign back in s9, who knows maybe he will still be in SV 10 years later.
