Exclusive first look inside the 'Friday Night Lights' Emmy campaign

friday-night-lightsImage Credit: Mitchell Haaseth/NBCIs this the year Emmy finally shows Friday Night Lights some freakin’ love? It better be. Season 4 — paced by the gut-wrenching, and flawlessly acted, episode “The Son” — was a creative triumph. The show’s producing partners, Universal Media Studios and DirecTV, are attempting to drive home this message to a seemingly immovable voting body with an Emmy campaign that is ambitious, creative, and, dare I say, moving. But don’t take my word for it. One piece of the multipronged effort — a fan-inspired video — is embedded below for your viewing pleasure. Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose!

It’s a perfect start to the campaign! Should have started 3 seasons ago! The signs are all the things I’ve said to people about this outstanding show! Here’s hoping the Emmy body listens finally!

This show is so wonderful on so many levels and best of all – it is unique/original, not the same old cop/lawyer/medical melodrama. This show is in my top 3 – LOST, FRINGE, FNL – all three deserve emmys

That video is hard to watch. I almost didn’t finish it. How can you get a message across when the delivery method makes people’s head explode?

I love FNL and the effort is sweet, but I hope the overall campaign is cleaner.

Yeah, I got a headache right away and couldn’t make it through the whole thing :-(

It’s hard because those of us without DirectTV who are on NBC are only on episode 2. But it’s such a great and “real” feeling show.

Cool video! I couldn’t agree more with every sentiment. As for the Emmy voters, God, I hope they listen this year!

NBC has really dropped the ball in recent years. Friday Night Lights should be at the forefront of their season, but sadly it’s not. Year after year this show has deserved an Emmy nod, but again, it’s been overlooked. Thanks to DirectTV we even have a season 4 (and a season 5) so I’m really hoping that they get something right and give this show the recognition it deserves! Lots of kudos to you, Mike, for promoting and loving this show (and Connie Britton!) the way that you do!!

Don’t like FNL so I’m going to bash this otherwise cute and enjoyable video by saying you could make it about absolutely every other show if you have a lot of free time to edit all those papers.

Actually, you couldn’t. Not without lying. Maybe you missed the part about all the awards it’s won.

Emmy voters be damned… unless they finally redeem themselves and give FNL the recognition it actually deserves. The recognition that it has deserved first and foremost for the first three seasons of the show, with an outstanding cast and some of the best episodes of a show TV ever broadcast. NBC missed a huge chance with FNL by never programming it on the right night and never, even remotely, promoting it the way it should’ve been promoted. Thanks for this Mike! :)

So true. It’s not a teen drama. It’s a life drama. Possibly the best one ever. I’ve only see #1 and #2 of this year but it’s been consistently excellent and I’m sure it’ll be deserving this year, too.
