Image Credit: Bill Matlock/FoxIt was an inauspicious start for Fox’s new summer drama The Good Guys starring Bradley Whitford (The West Wing) and Colin Hanks (The House Bunny). According to preliminary results from Wednesday, the action dramedy about two very different detectives finished its 8 p.m. time slot in fourth place among viewers (5 million), behind I Get That A Lot on CBS (7.1 million) and back-to-back episodes of the ABC comedy The Middle (6.4 million). NBC aired a rerun of Minute to Win It that led into the first half-hour of a Law & Order special (5.4 million).
In the adults 18-49 demographic, Guys tied for third place with Minute with a mere 1.5 rating/3 share — only a tenth of a point improvement over Fox’s week-ago performance with a Lie to Me repeat. Guys also was flat half-hour to half-hour — not a great sign when folks typically begin to tune in for the results show of American Idol.
Fox still won the night in viewers (11.7 million) and adults 18-49.

Although the show has a decent cast I just dont see this show lasting.
They should do the smart thing and pick up Legend of the Seeker.
And it was created by Matt Nix who also created Burn Notice. I was kind of excited for it, but it wasn’t very good, honestly. Sigh.
I could barely get through 10 minutes. Sorry, but I thought it was awful.
Agreed. I actually only caught about 5 minutes and thought – what are these people doing in this piece of dreck?
I was confused as to when the show was on. I’m gonna go look for it on hulu, because I definitely wanna watch this.
I had a hard time at the start, but overall, it was a really fun hour! Of course, now that I like it I anticipate its cancellation. Did Fox do much promotion for it? I just happened on it…
As much as I L-O-V-E Bradley Whitford… this was really disappointing. Maybe he can get a job with his former costars on Mr. Sunshine.
This. Can he lose some weight and the mustache first, though?
He could stand to drop a few pounds, but the mustache actually makes me want to check this show out.
he could also cut his poofy 80′s do too!
i didn’t mind it…it was fun. but, that means it will be gone in 2 weeks. (sigh)
Very entertaining. America would rather watch scripted reality television shows. You are all diseased.
Not all Americans. And I’m disease free thank you very much.
and yet you’re on a website for an american based entertainment magazine? nice…
Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
I just puked all over your crime scene/ratings report, haven’t you ever heard of Good Cop, Sick Cop? Good Guys is hilarious, laugh-a-rama like the Looney Tunes and awesome like a convertible Trans Am. If you didn’t see this last night, or switched off early, you missed leaping, airborne gunfights, screaming car chases, explosions, Jenny Wade from Reaper back from cancellation hell and looking mighy fine, and yes, one badass Trans Am bought at a gas station for the low, low price of $6,500. Find Good Guys and watch it somewhere tonight if you like to laugh and get your socks rocked off (or your rocks socked on). I can’t wait to watch this again on the DVD-RW! Fox can run Good Guys all summer long, hope they made at least 13 eps.
I agree wholeheartedly. Exactly what TV needs right about now. Matt Nix, all genius! Ratings be d*mned!! I’ll be back for every episode no matter when it’s on.
Forgot about it, caught it online. Took awhile to get into, but I would give it another try. I try really hard not to judge shows by the pilot episode. I found the obvious mocking of movie gun fight scenarios amusing. I do love Bradley Whitford.
This show is a drama? They sure haven’t marketing it as such.
I tuned in for the cast and I watched the whole episode, but honestly it just didn’t hold my interest. I don’t think I’ll be watching again.
I wrote a nice, lengthy analysis that for some reason did post.
To make a long analysis short … the first 20 minutes were horrible and I almost turned the channel. Then … the action picked up and the show turned out to be very entertaining. The characters need to be tweaked a bit … I’ll watch it again.
I meant “didn’t” post
The show seemed inconsistent to me. There were certainly parts that I liked but overall it was rather boring. I’ll give it another shot next week but if things don’t start picking up I won’t continue watching.
On the plus side Burn Notice returns in a couple of weeks.
Show was GREAT!!!!!
