Merritt Weaver on Nurse Jackie, please. And for Community, I think Don Glover does more with less than Danny Pudi.
Agree ! And especially after seeing Donald glovers stand up act this weekend…he deserves it ..completely different from himself
I completely agree about Modern Family’s Sofia Vegara!
@ Flavor & Track-a-Crat … i’m glad that you two have met each other.i just thought that the conrapisoms to the Karate Kid and Dirty Harry were just a bit much. yes, everyone talked about, including FOX and Rush Limbaugh. but there’s a difference between reporting it and fawning all over it.
Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski are long overdue for their performances with Pam and Jim. They nail it every episode, but their wedding and delivery episodes gave them the chances they needed to really stand out.
Agree wholeheartedly. This season has been uneven (to say the least) but I’m still blown away by those two.
These two are amazing and they really carry the show. This year had two of the greatest Office episodes ever and they both centered around Jim and Pam. They deserve to win!
Glad to see the “Community” love, but I also believe Adam Baldwin deserves a nod for “Chuck.” He’s been fantastic this year.
How exactly does Ty Burrell deserve an Emmy nod for playing Michael Scott: Father? Part of the lame there has to go to writing, but I don’t think they should be rewarded for completely ripping off someone else’s schtick.
All are good choices. If 30 Rock takes all the prizes from Glee again, I may have to hurt something. Anyway, can’t wait to see who else you’ve picked. C. Thomas Howell and Thomas Gibson better be in the supporting actor (drama) and best actor (drama).
For the drama category, you’ve got to have some of the actors from True Blood! Like Nelsan, as Lafayette, who is amaaaazing!
Jane Lynch and Nick Offerman.
Ron Freaking Swanson makes Parks & Rec AMAZING. And Sue Sylvester is awesome.
This might be the most I’ve ever agreed with you about something like this. So yay! But I’d stick Chris Colfer in the Supporting Actor category as well – he just keeps getting better and better.
Community is terrible and deserves no nominations. Also, get rid of The Office, it’s tired. I think that Merrit Weaver (Zoe from Nurse Jackie) will give Jane Lynch a run for her money. I also think Brie Larson (Kate on United States of Tara) and Keir Gilchrist (Marshall on United States of Tara) deserve nominations.
Brie Larson is consistently mesmerizing as Kate. She lets real emotions simmer beneath a detatched exterior and she still nails all her comic timing.
I think the whole Tara cast should be nominated, especially John Corbett. But Brie Larson is truly special, and not just because she can be hilarious sitting on a cake.
Would be happy if anyone from Community or Modern Family won, mostly Community though.
Offerman’s mustache and hairstyle should get the nomination, they age him by ten years. He’s still 39!
i completely agree with all except Michael Urie, but only because i dont know who that is and i havent watched Ugly Betty at all, but if Ausiello thinks he’s worthy of being in this lineup he probably is. Here here!
honey, you should watch Ugly Betty!! He is fabulous! Hell, the whole show is. It better get some love this year – it was a wonderful season.
Busy Phillips! OMG she’s a gift to that show!
Thanks for the response, Bob. I can see when roiats would be helpful: I think of my nonchalance as a teenager while making Julia’s recipes from “The Art of French Cooking” with the inevitable, resultant failure, and, today, I often refer to roiats when making “European” pastries. Unfortunately, today, I think that many people think they can cook but they make mistakes, usually because they fail to think of roiats. But when roiats become taken-for-granted knowledge, as in the case with the Greek grandma next door, then roiats seem to become secondary, or even non-existent, because texture, taste, feel, aroma, etc. all become the more immediate and important aspects of the final dish.I think a lot about these aspects of food and cooking because I’m not a trained professional chef, but I work as one (in addition to the anthropology), and I love to cook at home. I think I do well, like many other “self”-trained cooks. And that idea of “well” or confidence in myself, is often reinforced when my husband and I eat at high end restaurants, with the frequent result of not being impressed. Sometimes the food is pretty, but tasteless. Sometimes the taste is good, but not exceptional. And sometimes, it’s just not acceptable, given the price. And I think that in the end, it is often the result of one of two factors: the roiats were off, or the chef never tasted the food.I do think you’re right about using mass as a criteria, especially when I consider bread-making and the freshness of flour, the humidity, etc. And, I expect I’ll buy Ruhlman’s book because I like his voice.BTW, I’m waiting for your book on charcuterie….
in country music as a whole from the benningig of C W music to today? Doesn’t have to be an artist only. Can be a songwriter. Can be a musician.Check the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame list of inductees for possible suggestions. There’s no right or wrong answer here.Great answers so far! Anyone on the Cindy Walker bandwagon? How about Lefty Frizzell?
Wished there were Ensemble categories for the Emmys, as it’d be neck-and-neck for me between Community and Parks&Rec.
I think I’d give the best supporting actor nod to Nick Offerman (although Pudi, Glover and Chase all merit consideration for Community). Too many funny supporting ladies on both shows for me to pick just one.
And Adam Baldwin of “Chuck” merits a nomination, not so much for THIS season, but for his three seasons combined.
Agree with most of those …but I wanna see Merritt wever from nurse Jackie on there
