what?huh? soapnet has tons of viewers!! what about us? the star filled commercials rock!!! tv industry personnel work hard on all programs soaps included!!!

  • Tammy

Why can’t they switch the two channels…Disney Jr during the day and SoapNet at night…makes perfect sense to me

  • Briana

Where am I going to get my O.C. fix???????????????????

    • amy

Do what I did…buy the show on DVD!! I swear I can watch the OC over and over again and never get tired of it!

  • Mama T

I work during the day and the only time to catch up on soaps is at nite on SoapNet. I kept my DirecTV subscription so I could keep up on soaps. That’s entertainment!

  • amy

I am upset about this. This network introduced me to shows I missed the first time around, like the OC and One Tree Hill. It also allowed me to relive my high schools days watching the original 90210. Oh well…hopefully another network will syndicate those shows.

    • amy

I meant to add that I agree with those who asked why Pre-Schoolers even need a network. What ever happened to playing outside or spending time with mom/dad, etc… Why are we plopping our children down infront of the TV so early in life!!! I just don’t get it…

      • Jessica

You must not live in a smoggy big city where it’s advised that you don’t play outside and where there are only backyards to play in for the biggest and most expensive houses. You also must not have a preschooler and understand just how much energy they have and how completely and totally draining they can be. Until she went to school, I spent every waking moment with my daughter, but every once in awhile I needed a 20 minute sanity break. I thanked God for Little Einsteins. And when we saw a Van Gogh exhibit at the Art Institute in Chicago and my daughter recognized Starry Night and stared at it intensely, I knew it wasn’t a total waste of time.

Ugh. I’m upset. Pre-schoolers don’t need a 24 hour channel. When Y&R on CBS gets pre-empted for breaking news, which happens a lot, I know I can go to SoapNet to catch it again. And what about Being Erica? Bad move.

I agree with most every one else about the loss of soapnet. My cable provider offered me 2 choices, either soapnet, or a dvr rental, both were at the same cost but i chose soapnet because it seemed like at least once a week the daytime soaps were being preempted, either by a local car chase or something national. Right now i don’t mind so much because i have a lap top. But I don’t know if I will have that convience 2 years from now. I believe they should be getting their education at school. I know that a million other seriously things happen in this world, and this one should be considered a very trivial event, but because of those million things happening around the world, we all need a little triviality.

  • Spikeq

One Life and AMC will be gone when SOAPnet is.

  • Jessica

No! I watch soapnet everyday and have for six years!! With GL and ATWT canceled, this is another blow to the genre I love! Stop messing with my soaps!!

  • SilentRage

Being the only black male I know who watches y&r I am very disappointed in this decision.I hate streaming videos online(buffer this) but I guess I’ll learn to deal with it, at least I got a year and a half left.

  • Sammie

YES! Finally! Soap Operas are a dying breed and this is just the first of the shoes to fall.

As someone who used to watch, I would love to see stories that let you escape. Not the same storylines over and over and over again…..

  • J.A.

NOOOOOOOOO. I am so sad! I have been watching Ryan’s Hope the old 70′s soap on SoapNet. I would be more than happy to pay for it on DVD but that seems impossible given that it was on the air every day for over a decade. SoapNet was the only place it could be viewed (a very few episodes are on line)

    • Shelpie

I’m with you on this one. I DVR Ryan’s Hope every night and watch it in the mornings when I’m getting dressed. I was too young to appreciate it when it first ran, but it was my mother’s undesputed favorite so I thought I’d give it a try. It’s been very refreshing to watch and I am broken hearted at the prospect of its complete demise. Hopefully it will resurface someplace else, but I’m not optimistic. With the network flip, the voices of Riverside will be silenced forever.

  • Cameron

Wow, ABC/Disney blows. ABC Family dumps 10 Things, ABC dumps Better off Ted and Flashforward, and LOST is over. I’m no regular soap watcher, but the channel is perfect for days when I’m sick in bed or need to watch 938924 episodes of 90210 in a row. Two thumbs way down to ABC/Disney

  • marksv

Well–let’s face it–the typical soap viewer is over 50. We are demographically undesirable to advertisers. Disney is going after the dollars which is a prudent business decision based on their true customers–advertisers, not viewers. I think we lose sight of that sometimes. I’m not happy about it; I also believe I have more disposable income, but in the end their studies say differently–otherwise they would seek a more older demographic.

    • amy

I’m 34 and I watch soaps!! I’ve been watching Y&R, ATWT and GL since I was a kid (watched with my mom and grandmother). Of course I am about to be out of the coveted 18-34 demographic…lol! Who knew I would be irrelevant at the ripe old age of 34!

    nick jr ftw

  • Elvis Pudding

Great. Another useless cable channel that I won’t care about that I have to pay for.
