Exclusive: Maura Tierney circling ABC's 'Whole Truth'

Tags: , News, Scoop

maura-tierneyI’m hearing Maura Tierney is in talks to take over the female lead in ABC’s new legal drama The Whole Truth. She would replace Joely Richardson, who quit the project earlier this month so she could spend more time with her family.

Last spring, Tierney herself was forced to drop out of a high-profile pilot — NBC’s Parenthood — to undergo treatment for cancer. Lauren Graham eventually replaced her.

The Whole Truth, which chronicles the building of a case from the perspective of both the defense and the prosecution, costars former Numb3rs cruncher Rob Morrow. (Reporting by Lynette Rice)

That doesn’t look like Joely Richardson to me..

    • grace

    • Rowan

Unless they’ve changed the photo since your post – that is indeed Joely RIchardson

I don’t understand this “who quit the project earlier this month so she could spend more time with her family.”

Oh I’m going to make a pilot because it’s fun and it probably wouldn’t get picked up anyway so what the hey!….

    OOPS?

    • wowdoyourresearch

if you knew anything about what the richardson family has been through in the span of a year i don’t think you’d be mocking that quote…

      • renee

absolutely. folks just live to crack on other folks and it’s not right.

but i don’t think tierney is right for this part. i never bought her as a doctor to be on er.

      • okay

why then do the pilot AFTER your sister dies? How could any of the other deaths be more tragic than that?

      • Dominic

Not the point, we want to go back to work and then you realise once you start, family is more important. It happens, respect the decision

    • Jennifer

I think some info was left out here. Joely Richardson’s sister died last year and her aunt, Lynn Redgrave, died sometime in the last few weeks. Spending time with family makes perfect sense, unfortunately.

      • Jay

plus her daughter has some kind of disease. I remember her also taking some time off when she was on Nip/Tuck for the same reason

      • Rowan

Her uncle died just weeks before her aunt. They’ve had a horrible year. I applaud her putting her family first.

Would LOVE to see her back on TV. Still not over her having to leave Parenthood. Hope this comes to fruition.

Ugh, I can’t stand the thought of anyone but Lauren Graham in that role on Parenthood.

      • Alesa

I was thinking the same thing…I love Lauren Graham on Parenthood…I couldn’t think of Maura in that role at all!

      • Mandy

Maura Tierney would have rocked that role! Even though I love Lauren Graham and now think she is great in that role, I spent the whole first episode thinking how I would have loved to see Maura in that.

      • Sally

Yes, Maura would have rocked the role, but Lauren Graham brings an extra element or lightness to it.. The legal drama sounds like a perfect fit for her!
