Scoop: 'True Blood' headed to a theater near you!

True Blood is headed to the big screen — and I’m tagging along!

As a bloody cool precursor to the show’s season 3 premiere, HBO is hosting simultaneous fan events at 50 movie theaters across the country on Tuesday, June 1. The gatherings will include a screening of the season 2 finale followed by a live satellite interview with series creator Alan Ball and the entire cast moderated by — pausing for dramatic effect — yours freakin’ truly.

For information on how you can attend one of the screenings, head to facebook.com/trueblood (for special VIP tix) or truebloodultimatefan.com (for general-admission tickets). The Q&A will also be streamed live on HBO.com around midnight EST.

Now I have a favor to ask of all you Blood addicts out there: Send me really smart questions to ask Ball & Co., either through True Blood’s official Facebook and Twitter presences at facebook.com/trueblood and twitter.com/truebloodhbo, or directly to me via ausielloscoop@ew.com. If you choose that third option, please include the words “True Blood Event” in the subject line and submit your question(s) by the end of the day.

Don’t just sit there — hit the comments and wish me luck on my big-screen debut!

If I’m gonna shell out some dough for a movie screening, I wanna see the Season 3 premiere, not the Season 2 finale.

    • Joe

I’m feeling that they are going to air the Season 3 premiere instead of last year’s finale..

Sort of like what JJ Abrams did a few years ago with Star Trek. They were supposed to air a “Wrath of Khan” screening and it turned out to be the feature film.

It is free. GA means you *might* get a seat and VIP is guaranteed

You don’t need to shell out money, the event is FREE.

    • Stacie

You don’t have to shell anything out. It’s a FREE event.

My friends and I were kind of obsessed with Maryann’s manservant Karl last season, and we wondered if he was just a human or some kind of supernatural being, if Mr. Ball has any insight on that it would be awesome.

Also, Andy is becoming one of my favorite and most quotable characters and I wanted to know if he’ll be getting a love interest, in addition to his bromance with Jason?

    • Lafayette

He was not a supe. Maryann could not control supernatural beings and she was controlling Karl.

Wow! Super congrats out there to you!!! If they (the general population) didn’t already know who you were, they sure will now. MAJOR exposure!

A shame that they’re showing the Season 3 premiere. Seeing Eric naked on a giant screen? They would have made a fortune!! Badly played, HBO!

    • J.

They’re not showing the premiere. Clips, maybe. But it should just be the s2 finale and the Q&A.

I’m pretty sure the screening is free. At least, I got a couple of passes and heard nothing about actually paying for them…so yeah. Totally worth it.

Are you going to be hosting the Q&A from the NYC screening?

It’s only from Dusk til Dawn and you have to wait for your city to pop up on the screen. Good luck!
