Image Credit: Kelsey McNeal/FoxFresh off his wicked-cool 24 comeback, Gregory Itzin has booked a multi-episode arc on the new USA Network drama Covert Affairs as — get this — a good guy!
Sources confirm to me exclusively that Itzin has been cast as Henry Wilcox, the distinguished former Director of Clandestine Services and the father of Sendhil Ramamurthy’s character, Jai.
Additionally, Affairs has recruited ER vet Eriq La Salle — who’s also coming off a brief 24 stint — to guest star as a former East Africa operative who quit the agency after suffering a nervous breakdown. Despite numerous attempts on the CIA’s part to bring him back into the fold, La Salle’s ex-spy has resisted each one.
Affairs, which stars Piper Perabo and Christopher Gorham, premieres on July 13.

Minelli! How I’ve missed you!

at least he looks like mohinder’s father.

So excited for this and intrigued as to whether Sendhil’s character is adopted or not
If he actually manages to play a convincing GOOD guy, he deserves an emmy based on that alone.
He was so good on 24, he literally made me want to strangle President Logan in every scene.
Did no one watched him on The Mentalist? He was great in there playing a good guy…
He played a good guy in The Mentalist!
He was a good guy, but, until the last episode, he was still pretty much a dick.
Dicky good guy is not that far from bad guy!
Never watched that show. I sorta have an irrational dislike of the show as it *seemed* to rip off Psych.
Right there with you, Pat D. I refuse to watch the Mentalist, even though it might be a good show. I do enjoy the digs that Psych makes at the Mentalist from time-to-time, though.
It’s a lot less silly than “Psych,” IMHO, and has a really good ensemble cast.
I always thought that The Mentalist ripped off Life!
To me, Mentalist (which I can’t stand, whatshisname is always smirking) ripped off Lie to me, which I find far more interesting…
If only Katee Sackoff hadn’t had to choose between the lead role in this show and the guest spot on 24, this could have been a fun mini 24 reunion!
Wait, if she hadn’t done the 24 guest spot, then how would this have been a reunion?
They were saying if she did not have to choose between… meaning she’d have been in both.
Itzin was SUCH a great villain as that sleaze President Logan. Love him. Especially when Jack, dressed all in black, kidnapped him from his limo. OMG, so great. Not sure if he’s actually dead. The end of 24 left that hanging. Maybe he’ll be in the movie? Somebody has to vindicate Jack Bauer!
They said that if he survived he would most likely have severe brain damage.

I really liked him as Minelli on the Mentalist and wish he were still on that. He is fantastic in whatever he does.

I thought he was great as Minelli on the Mentalist, I hate the new boss. There is nothing interesting about her.
Agreed. It feels like yet another show thought it was obliged to put in a supposed-to be-edgy female character as the boss (Law& Order CI being another example of same).
