A CBS rep declined to comment, but a source close to the long-running procedural confirms that Liz Vassey’s (Wendy) contract option has not been picked up.
“The show is going in a different creative direction in its 11th season,” says the insider.
News of Vassey’s departure comes as several of her costars are negotiating new contracts. Might this be a precursor to a larger cast shake-up? That’s a rhetorical query. I honestly don’t know if anyone else is leaving. But an investigation has been launched, and I’ll hopefully have answers soon.

I liked her character and was secretly hopin that they might make her a field team member before they brought Sara back (which is still weird that no one asks why she likes spending that much time away from her new husband… or even if he’s ever going to come to visit) Really sad but a bit curious where they are going to go as this is the only csi franchise that I care to watch.

Same here, it seemed some time ago that they will make her a field team member, but i guess they dropped the idea.
This season was very weak and the last jekyll episode was extremly dissapointing, the big bad was just some random dude.
I agree, I didn’t like Sara’s return. She never enjoyed her job, left the man she loved…don’t get me started on how bad a match that is…and suddenly she’s back. I liked Wendy, this is another bad move.
I was glad they didn’t take her into the field (been there, Greg that). Besides, lab rats are the backbone of ALL forensics teams and some are hot not just weird like Hdges. Plus, she made Hodges less weird. Lose Sara (boring character WAAAY before she started doing Grissom) and do something with Willows. She was a brilliant character but seems lackluster these days.
I like this character. They should get rid of Grissom’s replacement (Dr. Langston) and give some screen time each week to the lab rats.
Agreed. “Different creative direction”… that means they will once again give Fishburne a new wardrobe, another promotion up the CSI ladder… and watch the ratings plummet further to the ground… painful.
Amen! Get rid of Langston and keep Wendy! It was finally starting to get intersting with her and Hodges starting to develop their relationship. Otherwise, pretty boring this last season.
Hmm…I bet she is trying to come back to ‘One Life to Live’..now that the Hof is guesting on a Soap, it’s become the ‘It’ thing to do.. Save the Soaps!
She was Emily Ann on “All My Children” and didn’t appear on OLTL. Bring back Emily Ann for a triangle with Joey (now Jake) and Amanda!
Yes, now that AMC is taping in LA she should totally return as Emily Ann. She would be certain to have more chemistry with Joey.

THIS SUCKS , she’s better looking and a nicer character than the other two women . This show has gotten as bad as my Pittsburgh Pirates , they keep making cast changes but keep getting worse .
I loved Liz and was hoping they would expand her character, not get rid of it. They never really used her talents like they should have. Wouldn’t miss Gorja if she left, though!!!

What’s does everyone have against Langston? I like him. Maybe it’s because he replaced your Grissom who left of his own accord.
I hated him because he was in every scene. It was like a new show: Doctor Langston & Co. Once he started stealing scenes from Doc Robbins, I knew it was time to stop watching CSI.

Seriously, I’d much rather see Vassey stay on the show. If they got rid of Fishburne, they could afford to keep her, and probably add a few lab rats in the process!
I TOTALLY agree. Not cool. This show barely has any women on it as it is, and they’re dropping the best of them now??
It’s one of the reasons I stopped watching regularly. CBS doesn’t seem to be that smart in figuring out the demographics of its audience. I want to see more women on the show, not fewer. It’s like the Little Rascals with GSR.

This is stupid by Carol Mendehlson and Anne Donahue. Really stupid. She has been great for the show.
Well put: one of the brightest and least utilized members of the ensemble. The show has been tanking in the ratings and rather than use the talent that
is all around them in more ‘useful’ ways, they ‘go a different direction’- hope your different direction includes a continual loss of audience next season ! Best of Luck Liz: hope you find a series that will appreciate all that you have to offer.

Exactly. I left when Lauren Lee Smith left, CSI is just too dank, dull and dismal for me.
Bummer. The scenes with her and Hodges were always the ones I enjoyed and looked forward to the most. Always hoped those 2 would get together!
