Two weeks after getting dropped by CBS, The New Adventures of Old Christine has been rejected again.
Sources confirm that the sitcom will not be moving to ABC — or anywhere else for that matter.
Warner Bros. TV, which owns the Julia Louis-Dreyfus vehicle, officially pulled the plug on Wednesday after talks with ABC broke down.
Translation: The May 12 season finale was actually the series finale.
Last week, ABC also passed on a chance to rescue Ghost Whisperer from CBS’ scrap heap.

Sad day.
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. SUCKS TO BE WANDA SYKES. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Totally, considering her talkshow was canceled and now her sitcom has also been canned.
You’re an idiot!!
This SUCKS!!!
I love JLD and the entire cast, but it was time, show was getting very boring!
Hate to agree, but I do agree. Some of the past shows were absolutely hysterical – lately they’ve been mildy amusing. I love Julia and the cast – hope she finds something else! It really was a great role for her though
I agree too, it had a good run, especially since it was put ‘on the bubble’ EVERY season. Even with new Christine’s new baby I doubt the show could have gone much further.
so instead of taking a great sitcom…they’ll take their chances on crappy sitcoms and hour dramas that they’ll cancel after 2 episodes
a great sitcom, yes, but an expensive, aging sitcom that didn’t do well on CBS and a sitcom that may only have a year or two left in it.
I would call Old Christine a “great sitcom.” Was it good and fun to watch? Sure, but great it wasn’t.
Fun, agreed. I never got the reputed “brilliance” of it. I didn’t watch it much recently because I’m not a fan of Eric MacCormack. I can’t help but wonder if his too-long story arc perhaps had anything to do with lower ratings….
:’(
i feel like somebody just ripped out my stomach

no one cares
about your post? Correct.
CBS REALLY irks me with this decision. It’s like they renewed it the past couple of years just so ABC couldn’t scoop it up and then dump it the minute ABC stops showing interest. Freaking grow up.
Completely agree with this. I wish CBS would have just dropped it last year when ABC was ready and very willing to scoop it up. They probably would have given it a slot in the Comedy Wednesday lineup, and it probably would have done just as well as those ABC shows to continue for another few seasons.
In all fairness, CBS put it on the air. Ratings aren’t their choice, it’s the viewers. And ABC had the chance and passed, so I don’t think you can really call them the good guy here, either.
Although I like Old Christine, it is nowhere near as funny as Modern Family or The Middle (maybe Cougar).
Its ratings were high when it aired after two and a half men!!!! And it did respectable numbers, even beating ABC’s comedy wed lineup — so i completely agree that CBS would only want this show for itself — that’s why they renewed it for two years because abc would have picked it up and I had hoped the same would happen this time. LETS DO SOMETHING. The fans of Flash forward, which doesn’t have a chance of getting renewed are staging blackouts — why can’t us christine fans create a stir — posting on abc message boards, etc.
Yes, the show was cancelled because of low ratings. But CBS always treated in like crap. I rarely saw an ad for it, while many other sitcoms got several every week. And ABC, it was too expensive to take? Well, the ratings this year were only slightly worse than the other two years you were jumping at it. I know the cost goes up every year, but I’m still inclined to believe that was all just talk. Anyway, I’m not worried about Julia or Wanda, but here’s hoping the rest of the cast gets new gigs. They aren’t as well known, but they deserve to be.
Last year ABC didn’t have Modern Family, Middle, Cougar Town.
Oh that sucks. That was such a hilarious show. So basically if CBS had canceled it a year or two earlier ABC would have taken it, but now they won’t? I guess the success of their Wednesday comedy block is probably to blame.

The last couple of years when ABC was jumping at it they really didn’t have too many strong sitcoms of their own (except Better Off Ted which doesn’t count because they treated it like crap.) Now that they’ve launched three very sucessful new comedies this past season which will all be returning in the fall, they didn’t really have as much need for CBS’s seconds.

I would hardly call Cougar Town “very successful” considering that it loses a huge chunk of its lead-in audience and ABC is trying to retool it.
ABC needs all the help it can get. Their pilots are not strong, especially their comedy pilots. It was always strange that McPherson wanted Old Christine so badly, but I’m still a bit surprised that it isn’t making the transition to ABC.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
This was going to be my post…so I’ll just “ditto”.
