Captain Jack yes, the Eve Myles character no. Her character as written just whines. Ianto Jones definitely (remember the glove that brought Owen back?).
Wasn’t the Torchwood base destroyed in CoE,so wouldn’t the glove have been destroyed, also?
I liked Ianto, but I’m not for bringing back his character, or any others. It’s time to move forward.
If it is time to move on, why would Jack be back? Why Gwen, who is a mother????

Now this might be something to get excited about. It may be difficult for Davies and team to top the excellent Children of Earth mini-series but I’d definitely give it watch.
I wonder if Jack will think this new Doctor is hot? It’ll be hard to top “Children of the Earth”.
I thought Children of the Earth was the saddest yet most brilliant mini series ever, and I will miss Ianto so… but I will be glad to see Jack again… (not so much Gwen)… should have killed her rather..

I was a huge fan of Torchwood, but I’m over it now.
Killing off Tosh, Owen, and Ianto in a matter of 6 episodes was just too much for me. Especially since I didn’t think they were necessary narratively and since I never fully warmed to Gwen. I don’t trust that these new characters won’t just get offed as well. CoE destroyed almost everything that made Torchwood Torchwood for me, so I won’t be watching whatever this is. And that, combined with the absolutely AWFUL two-episode finale of David Tennant’s tenure, makes me want to back away very quickly from anything RTD is involved in.
I would have been completely down with a reboot not involving RTD (or even JB). This holds no interest for me.
But I’m happy for the fans who are excited!
I’m so excited! Now get Ianto back!
There’s no way I’m watching. CoE was so poorly written, plotted, and characterized it was just the death of the show for me. They killed everything worth caring about and watching- Nope, RTD will just have to forgive me if I’m not willing to sit through another Mary Sue Season that should be titled “Nothing Bad Happens to Gwen… ever! No, really- EVER!” instead of Torchwood.
