A Showtime rep declined to divulge details on his character, but a recent Dexter casting call may offer a clue: The drama was seeking a thirtysomething actor to play the recurring role of a no-nonsense FBI agent. UPDATE: So much for my FBI theory. A source close to the show tells me that Hatosy is playing “a bad guy.”
After completing his Dexter arc later this summer, Hatosy will head immediately into production on Southland‘s 10-episode third season.
This marks the second major piece of casting for Dexter‘s upcoming fifth season. As I reported last month, Julia Stiles is also joining the cast as a mysterious young woman who forms a unique relationship with Dexter.

I was hoping he’d be a bad guy. He was really creepy villian on that Showtime movie “Soldier’s Girl.” Is he a good guy on Southland? Never watched.
He’s a cop with an insufferable wife on Southland. But, when I first read the headline, my first thought was also “ooooh…he’s play a great bad guy!”

Yes. There’s a relatable “every-guy” quality to his character (a police detective), who’s a little frazzled but fiercely loyal and dedicated to the job. Though his wife’s a piece of work and a head case; he needs to leave her.
I hope he doesn’t bring his “Southland wife” with him.
