'Breaking Bad' picked up for fourth season

breaking_badImage Credit: AMCAMC announced  today that it has ordered a fourth season of Breaking Bad starring two-time Emmy-winning Bryan Cranston. The series from Vince Gilligan (The X-Files) aired its season three finale on Sunday. The show’s ratings were up 18 percent in viewers for the season versus last year and 30 percent among adults 18-34.

The drama is filmed on location in Albuquerque, NM.

“AMC’s Breaking Bad is one of the most layered and intense dramas on television today,” said Joel Stillerman, Senior Vice President of original programming, production and digital content, in a statement. “The critical acclaim and strong audience growth we’ve seen in season three reinforce that this is the kind of exceptional original storytelling AMC has become known for providing to audiences. Vince Gilligan and his team deliver bold storylines that truly push the psychic envelope and create a mesmerizing, exhilarating television experience. We look forward to an incredible fourth season.”

Bad also stars Aaron Paul (Big Love), Anna Gunn (Deadwood), Bob Odenkirk (Mr. Show with Bob and David) and Giancarlo Esposito (Gospel Hill).

Best show on TV. Period. Done. Anyone that disagrees are morons

      • Matt

As much as I love Breaking Bad, one sure moron around here is you. Taste is always subjective — and not everybody who doesn’t think that your choice is the best is automatically a moron.

      • smoob

        Matt is a moron.

      • markd

everyone is entitled to their opinion….

        but you are a moron

      • nessy

        your a moron pal

      • Sasha Grey

@ smoob – You’re a moron for making that comment.

@ AMC – why wait so long to sign the 4th season? I don’t appreciate it and I’m sure most of your viewers would have appreciated the contract renewal to be signed before the day after the finale. Screw you AMC and smoob!

    • LOL

      No brainer.

  • jeremy

They better after last night’s finale.

  • Sara

Best show on TV, bar none!!!! Can’t wait until next April!!! Did Jessie do it???

    • D

Yes he did it. That was the *BANG* you heard at the end of the show

      • JennyH

Was it? Or did Jesse get shot from behind?

      • Snsetblaze

Oooh nice thought. Never thought of Jesse getting shot from behind.

      • MCS

I read an interview with Vince Gilligan where he hinted that Jesse didn’t actually get shot, just that it “appeared” he did.

      • MCS

Sorry I mean, Jesse may have not shot Gale, the way I wrote it was wrong.

      • Barry O

I read the interview with Gilligan on the AVclub, and he said that Jesse definitely shot Gale. The right camera-dolly that changed the perspective of the viewer wasn’t intended to leave that ambiguous. Jesse definitely shot Gale. But it’s cool that season 4 is gonna immediately kick off with Victor chasing Jesse.

      • guest149.24

jesse cant die because then walter dies. no walter = no show.

    • Mary

Or did Jessie shoot himself???? It’s going to be a long wait until the Season 4 premiere!

      • Anne

No as Jessie shot his hand moved to the right. He probably shot the wall. So it looks like the killed him. Gail is to nice of a guy for them to kill.

    • Rush

Gilligan confirmed it on AV Club that the angle change was just so the gun was pointed at the audience. Jessie did in fact shoot him.

    • Anne

No he didn’t shoot anyone. If you noticed, the gun wen to the right. He is probably going to convince Gail to leave.

      • geeezer

well i beg to differ , jessie definitely moved the gun to the right and a shot was fired , but i have the feeling that the lawyer knowing that if walter and jessie were gone he would no longer be of any use to the man and would be next , stepped up to the plate to save his own neck

  • Phil

Fascinating show! I just discovered this year. I look forward to seeing the first 2 seasons and next year’s season. This is one of just a handful of shows that are “can’t miss” for me.

  • Shayan

Now that Lost is over Breaking Bad has taken over my mantle of my favourite tv show. Closely followed by Dexter and Mad Men.

  • Bill

Damn right! How do you not renew the best show on television?

  • Peter

Good. Now how about re-airing the past seasons? Or making them available on the website? Or at least streaming them on Netflix? I want to catch up, and AMC doesn’t make it easy.

    • jennrae

      Try Ninja

    • Barry O

      TV Duck is good too

  • Kevin

Was there any doubt? It’s one of the best TV shows on TV, up there with Dexter and Mad Men.

  • JMaG

    BEST SHOW ON TELEVISON.

    no one can argue that.seriously.

  • Susanne

@Peter: I agree, you can on demand the AMC shows, but they don’t appear until more than a week later! I have been purchasing them for $1.99 on amazon. That is a good way to go and you can watch it on your computer and also download and save them if you want to watch them again, otherwise BB is not on hulu, not on youtube, not on the website…it’s awful!

    • jeremy

Buy the freaking seasons! The first one had 7 episodes and i got it for 17.97. The second season has 13 episodes and was only 24.99. I’m sure they’re cheaper now. Trust me, they’re worth having to watch again and again.

  • tcrab

This is the best show on TV since the wire…so glad that it’s being renewed. Hope to see Jonathan Banks on agin next season.

    • Omar

I think it’s better than The Wire, but mostly cause those writers let me get iced like a punk. How is that a way for a man like Omar to go?

  • Robert Singleton

Glad to see that Vince Gilligan wrote and directed the finale. He wrote some of my favorite X-Files episodes, like Soft Light, X-Cops and Small Potatoes. There was a different tone to the finale, particularly the stuff in the warehouse with Mike, that combined humor and horror in a vintage Vince Gilligan way.

  • Donald

This show is amazing. Everything thats happens in this show hold up, every character’s decision makes sense, and every event/characters builds off of everything that happened before it.

Every episode has multiple scenes that keep the viewer holding their breath and sit on the edge of their seat. There is so much emotion in this show, it’s a work of art.

This is the greatest show ever.

  • Dirk

It wasn’t that good last night.

    • smoob

Spokin like a true moron =)

      • Dave

If I were you, I’d probably check my spelling before going around calling people morons.

      • The Blob

I’ll alweys uses speel cheak bafore poosting an coment.

  • Edi

Hooray! I think this is the SECOND best show on tv (albeit a very CLOSE second, after Mad Men) but I’m THRILLED to see that it’s been picked up again.

I’m nearly breathless after the finale and don’t know how I’ll wait for next season! I’d be crushed if it hadn’t been picked up.
