Image Credit: NBCWho says there’s no room for advancement in The Office? Sources confirm to me exclusively that the NBC hitcom has just promoted Zach Woods — a.k.a. Sabre VIP (Very Insecure Person) Gabe — to series regular for season 7.
The way I see it, that’s ace news: The actor meshes beautifully with the existing Dunder Mifflin staff — which is to say, incredibly awkwardly. And if we can’t have Kathy Bates every week as Jo, he’s the next best thing.

At the end of the episode “Whistleblower,” Micheal said to Jo that he wanted Holly back, Jo said “I’ll see what I can do” That must be foreshadowing her return.

If you think The office is past it’s prime, i think maybe your past your prime, the office emcompasses the everyday life in an office drone like setting, if you have never worked in an office i wouldn’t expect you to like it , maybe go watch lost, oh right THAT SHow was past it’s prime
She’s going to play Gabriel Byrne’s therapist on the next season of In Treatment. The show’s not everyone’s cup of tea but it usually gives actors plenty of good material to chew on.

that’s not true…look at dwight angela and andy. they had a very strong story in the past. and now erin and andy are together..that’s definately going to turn into something!
he’s a really good character give it time and he’ll have a storyline. I think this guy is amazing had me laughing so hard the last few episodes with his extreme insecurity. I don’t thinks he’s gonna be one of the lighter less seen characters

Agreed. The whole Sabre storyline is done. It should have been temporary all along. Have David Wallace and a group of investors buy back Dunder Mifflin and let’s get back to where ‘The Office’ was.

I see you’re not in the entertainment loop so let me fill you in: Michael’s storylines have pretty much ran their ground which is why Steve Carell is leaving after this coming season.
If this show is to continue without Carell, then I can see Gabe as the new branch manager as his neurotic awkwardness is pure comedy gold.
This last season was pretty dull because we see the same ole scenarios. Flesh out storylines with the other characters, the way Cheers did. Sam Malone was still the main character but we got to see storylines involving Rebecca, Woody, Carla, Cliff, Norm, Frasier and even Lilith. That show ran for 11 seasons. It wouldn’t have if the storylines were solely on Sam Malone like The Office is doing with Michael Scott.
So Ben you can feel free not to make dumb comments anymore. BTW – you’re fired!

Jackie- I agree that this last season, morespecifically, the last two seasons, have been dull. And I I like Gabe, I think he’s just okay, but I think if Steve left the show Gabe should not be the replacement. That would almost be as bad as having Jimmy Fallon replace Conan..oh wait

This is exactly what I was thinking. Gabe harkens back to the old days of the Office when it was more reliably funny. I welcome his upgrade.
