Exclusive: Syfy goes 'Hunting for Hollywood'

Tags: , News, Scoop

scissor-handsNow here’s a reality show I can get behind: Syfy has greenlit a series about one-of-a-kind showbiz swag!

The cable net has ordered six episodes of Hunting Hollywood, a documentary-style show from Shevick*Zupon Entertainment that focuses on the collecting of pop culture memorabilia — including sci-fi props and costumes.

Joe Maddalena — a top expert in the field whose company, Profiles in History, is the world’s largest auctioneer of Tinseltown mementos — will serve as host. (Note to Joe: I bet you’d kill to get your hands on some authentic Dragonfly Inn stationery. Call me to discuss.)

The pickup of Hunting, which is slated to premiere in November, continues Syfy’s expansion into the world of reality. Last month, the net ordered three new unscripted series, including a cooking show fronted by Top Chef alum Marcel Vigneron.

I think we are at the point that we need a reality tv channel. Then all the crap that execs come up with can be localized to one station.

This is so stupid; SyFy has turned into a load of self-hating dross, turning their back on their core viewers. Such a shame.
