Sources confirm to me exclusively that Cassidy — who was arguably the best thing about last season’s ill-fated Melrose reboot — is staying in the CW fold with a multi-episode arc on Gossip Girl.
She’ll play a student at Columbia and a love interest for fellow undergrad Nate (Chace Crawford).
This next bit probably goes without saying, but a Gossip source tells me that Cassidy’s character “will make trouble” for several Upper East Siders, adding, “She is not what she appears.”
Cassidy will first air in the season 4 premiere.
Coincidentally, Cassidy is currently in Paris shooting the teen adventure comedy Monte Carlo alongside fellow Gossip girl Leighton Meester (Blair).
Thoughts? Does Cassidy’s casting warrant an enthusiastic “Yes!” or an apathetic “Meh?” (Hint: The correct answer is “Yes!”)

It sucks because I was ready to quit watching GG because it just lacks the quality it had in the first season. But damn…may have to stick around to see Katie Cassidy for a bit. Why do they always do this with Nate each season? It’s like they have no idea what to do with him so they bring on a newbie for the first few episodes each season before throwing him back at Serena, Blair or Jenny.
lol, I agree Tara. Nate is so boring that they have to introduce a new girlfriend for him each season to maintain audience interest. What’s most annoying is that these girlfriends, “MILF lady” and “Family enemy chick”, have almost no relevance to the rest of the season and leave without a trace after a couple of episodes with no effect.
I’m done with this show. It’s lost that spark it had in the first two seasons. Oh well.
My girlfriend and I argue about Nate every time we watch Gossip Girl together. I stand by my argument that Nate ARchibald is just vanilla. He’s so bland and common that he’s not even worth any screen time.

i love georgie! i am excited about this casting though. i didn’t watch the horrible mp reboot but heard nothing but good things about cassidy so i am looking forward to her on gg.
Katie Cassidy is too good for GG. Used to loooove the show but s3 I watched on and off. I wish she was joining VD like it was rumored. Well, I wish MP hadn’t been axed.

It was only intended to be a mini-series. I think it served it’s purpose. People still talk about it so it couldn’t have been that unnoticed.
I was bored with Harper’s Island’s slow pace and silly writing at times, but I thought the general concept rocked. I wish they would air a ~10-episode murder mystery mini-series every summer.

Oh absolutely. Katie was easily the better Ruby and one of the greatest villains ever on the show, which is saying something. I quit watching GG awhile ago but I will have to check it out again just because i love her so much.
