Armchair Casting Director: 'The Vampire Diaries'

The death of Mayor Lockwood in The Vampire Diaries‘ season finale paves the way for the arrival of his younger brother (and Tyler’s uncle), Mason, this fall. Keep reading for fresh details on the new character…

Mason Lockwood: Described as Tyler’s “cool” uncle, Mason is sexy and athletic and possesses an easygoing charm. Though he has more control than his nephew, he can “flip in an instant” if crossed. Seeking Latin or Caucasian actors in their 30s for this recurring role.

Armchair Casting Director suggestion: Skeet Ulrich (if Law & Order: Los Angeles doesn’t snap him up).

  • BlatantURLPimpingMustDie

    Jason Dohring or no one.

    • sunsetsnow81

I agree he would be perfect.

      • Em

And after this role, he would then proceed to get his own show! Boo-yah!

      • yellowflash

OMG, Jason Dohring is like the best idea in the history of ideas–Loooveee Itttt!!!! This has to happen!

      • Brenda

I’ve never seen Joson Dohring in anything, but a quick IMDB search shows that he is in his 20′s (28). While that may not matter so much, from the pictures it looks like he has a total baby face and actually looks younger than 28, not older like the character calls for. Just because you like him doesn’t mean he’s right for the role.

    • Cin Salvatore

      Dohring! YES!!!

      • Chelsea

<3 Logan Echols. and I miss him sooo much. This would be perfff.

    • Tara

Words cannot describe how amazing that idea is.

    • Trina

      Dohring ! Great idea (Y)

      • Eileen

The hell hes white ! he doesn’t look latin !

    • Yve

LOVE DOHRINg but he is not Latin or Caucasian :(

      • Karen

Just curious as to what you think Caucasian is if you think Jason Dohring isn’t caucasian?

    • Makenzie

      Jason Dohring all the way.

  • Sam

If Timothy Olymphant wasn’t doing like 15,000 other things, I’d suggest him. I know he’s like 44, but he LOOKS like he’s in his 30s.

    • cusegirl

      And he is indeed HOTT..

      • whatevs

I agree, I think he’s gotten better with age. I don’t remember thinking he was hot in Scream 2.

    • lorna

Timothy O. rocks!! Loved him since scream 2.

  • Anna

Yeah, I don’t know Mike. When I think of Skeet Ulrich, the words ‘sexy and athletic’ don’t really come to mind.

    • Michael

      But ‘scrawny and creepy’ do.

      • Anonymous

I think he looks like a younger Johnny Depp

  • Myposian

Yeah! Skeet Ulrich would be great. AND he’s already worked with Kevin Williamson on Scream.

    • mary q contrary

I agree, Skeet Ulrich would be perfect. I’ve had the biggest crush on him since Scream.

  • Sandra

    Milo Ventimiglia!

    • yellowflash

Noooo, please do not subject us to his annoying hair flip and souless “acting”

      • lorna

Milo rocks, yellowflash. You are soulless. You probably think Nina Dobrev and Blake Lively are talented actresses.

      • yellowflash

No, I actually think they are horrible actresses. But I never will understand people’s obsession with Milo. Plus, I also hated him on Gilmore Girls. Whats so great about him anyways? :P

      • Wil

Milo is annoying. Nina Dobrev isn’t amazing but she is generally alright for the show, and I make it a point not to watch Gossip Girl so I wouldn’t know if Blake Lively is good or not.

  • Heather

    Milo Ventimiglia
    Since Heroes was canceled…

      Ohhhh….good choice

May I suggest Rodrigo Santoro? Is he doing much these days? And he is totally sexy enough to hold his own with that cast.

    • John

      Perfect suggestion!

      • maria

        HE CAN’T ACT

Sounds like a job for a CW regular guest actor – Brian Austen Green!
    Or Freddie Prinze Jr.

    • Michelle

Brian Austin Green would be perfect! And therefore it won’t happen. :(

    • Seela

I agree with your choice of Brian Austen Green. He fits the job description.

    • ts

Pleez, not Brian Austin Green! Or for that matter Freddie Prince Jr- he’s too well known.
