Image Credit: Bryan SheffieldABC announced today that Vanessa Marcil will reprise her role as Brenda Barrett on General Hospital beginning Aug. 11. Having first joined the soap in 1992, Marcil earned an Emmy for playing Brenda in 2003 — the year she left the show to co-star in the primetime series Las Vegas. She will rejoin GH as a series regular. “I feel so lucky to continue to be allowed to visit General Hospital and honor where I came from,” says Marcil in a statement. “I am humbled by these great people and a character that I truly love.”
Brenda return to Port Charles when the three men in her life – Sonny, Jax, and Jason – are in crisis. She also has what ABC describes as an “explosive” secret.

'Terra Nova' drama at Fox in talks with Jason O'Mara
Image Credit: Glenn Harris/PR Photos The hot star of the lukewarm drama Life on Mars may find a new dimension to explore for Fox next season. A key insider confirmed that Jason O’Mara, the Irish actor who headlined the short-lived, time-traveling series for ABC last year, is in negotiations to star in Terra Nova for Fox’s mid-year lineup. As first reported by Deadline.com, O’Mara would play the father of a young family from 100 years in the future that travels back to the prehistoric era.
Though the series certainly pays well and hails from some of Hollywood’s most powerful players - Steven Spielberg, ex-Fox Chairman Peter Chernin and scribe Brannon Braga (24) are among the drama’s executive producers – the offer comes with a catch: O’Mara (who’s married to actress Paige Turco) would have to move to Australia where the series is expected to begin filming this summer. Should O’Mara pass on the big-budget project that’s already received a thumbs down from Kyle Chandler, the producers could be compelled to consider a more viable (if not less costly) alternative – attracting relative unknowns to the drama that’s received a 13-episode pickup from Fox. After all, the series already touts one of the biggest names in Hollywood – Spielberg – so a marquee actor may not be needed to sell the project to viewers worldwide.
The drama, which is also executive produced by agent-turned-producer Aaron Kaplan, Craig Silverstein (Bones) and Kelly Marcel, among others, takes place in 2149 A.D. when a large group of settlers are preparing to leave the apocalyptic world in which they live to time travel back millions of years. Their goal is to see trees, enjoy a blue sky, eat real food – basically, to start over in this so-called Eden.

'Big Brother: After Dark' will return to Sho 2
Image Credit: John P. Filo/CBSKeep your late nights wide open this summer, Big Brother fans: After Dark will be back! Showtime has confirmed that it will continue airing live, nightly feeds from the Big Brother house beginning July 8 at 12 a.m EST. This marks the fifth summer that CBS’ sister cable network has run the uncensored and uncut feeds, which have been a ratings success: After Dark has almost quadrupled the average numbers of viewers that Sho 2 typically attracts to the time period, when it usually airs movies (some of which are of the “adult” persuasion).
CBS has already announced that the 12th edition of Big Brother will begin July 8 and air three nights a week on Wednesdays (8-9 p.m. ET/PT), Thursdays (eviction show from 8-9 p.m.) and Sundays (8-9 p.m). The network used to air BB on Tuesdays but the network wanted to keep its winning line-up of dramas on that night intact for the summer.
The new cast for the reality show, which follows a group of people living in a house outfitted with dozens of cameras and microphones, will be announced at a later date. Big Brother is hosted by Julie Chen and executive produced by Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan in association with Endemol U.S.A.

Lauralee Bell returns to 'The Young and the Restless'
Image Credit: Jason Merritt/Getty ImagesLauralee Bell will briefly reprise her role as Christine Blair on The Young and The Restless beginning July 15, EW has learned. The actress — who spent 18 years on the top-rated daytime drama before exiting in August 2006 (her character left Genoa City for an unspecified reason) — will return to the show’s Los Angeles set on June 11. Her return is expected to last about a month, during which time Christine will reunite with Paul and Nina — and harbor some secrets that will impact them and their children.
Restless was created by Bell’s parents, Lee Phillip Bell and William J. Bell. She also portrayed her role on CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful in 2007.
CBS eyes new comedy 'Mad Love' for midseason
Image Credit: Ernesto Revira/Retna Ltd. UPDATE: Sarah Chalke is reportedly in talks to replace Minka Kelly in the comedy. The news was first reported by Deadline.com.
CBS is close to rounding out its comedy lineup for the 2010-11 season by offering a 13-episode commitment to the multi-camera comedy Mad Love from Matt Tarses (Worst Week) and Sony Pictures TV, EW has learned. The show, which is also executive produced by former ABC entertainment president Jamie Tarses, is about four friends in New York – two of whom fall for one another. The pilot stars Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights) and Jason Biggs (American Pie) and will likely bow midseason.
The network already ordered two sitcoms for fall: Mike and Molly, a relationship comedy from Chuck Lorre (Two and A Half Men) that will air Mondays at 9:30 p.m., and Sh*! My Dad Says, a laugher from David Kohan and Max Mutchnick (Will & Grace) that will air Thursdays at 8:30 p.m.
