Exclusive: 'Pushing Daisies' star, 'Law & Order' vet join HBO's 'Miraculous Year'

linus-lee-paceImage Credit: Eugene Gologursky/WireImage.com; Jeffrey Mayer/WirPushing Daisies‘ Lee Pace and ex-Law & Order ADA Linus Roache have joined HBO’s drama pilot Miraculous Year. Stark Sands (Generation Kill) has also been cast in a supporting role. Exec-produced by John Logan and Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow (who is directing the pilot), Year is described as an examination of a New York family as seen through the eyes of a charismatic, self-destructive Broadway composer (Norbert Leo Butz is in talks). Hope Davis, Eddie Redmayne, Frank Langella, and Patti LuPone round out the cast.

ahh, someone hire Lee Pace for some good projects already…wasted in a movie starring a dog voiced by Owen Wilson is embarrassing enough.

    • Season

Lee Pace was in Marmaduke?! Jesus take the wheel.

      • @Season

        LOL!

      • gigi

HaHa! You get my “Post D’Jour” award! Love it!

    • Molly

After I heard Lee Pace was in Marmaduke, I considered seeing it for about two seconds…but not even the piemaker could make me see that movie. Bring back Pushing Daisies, please!

      • liz

        AMEN!

With so many “fish” in the sea, finding Mr. or Mrs. Right can be tricky. However, I happen to my soulmate via *** (B lack wh ite Cupid)* .*{C00M} *** a nice place for black white singles, to interact with each other… no bounds or extremes in front of true love. . …@love it

He definitely needs a good role just so he stops being wasted in horrible things like Marmaduke. He’s incredibly charming and deserves better.

    • Woot

Lee Pace was in a movie called “The Fall” which was a visually astonishing movie. So he has done some good things.

      • Darrin

“The Fall” was phenomenal, even if it took me 3 viewings and the director’s commentary to totally get every nuance of it. Amazing visual movie, and almost all without CG.

      • Raven_Moon

I love “The Fall.” It’s so sweet & sad &, of course, visually stunning. Why it didn’t get any Oscar love, I do not understand. I love Lee Pace. I hope this show is worthy of his talent.

      • anon

Lee Pace is also amazingly charming in Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day

      • @anon

I just watched that movie again the other day. He is so cute!

      • izikavazo

        Best movie of 2008.

      • Cheri

I love both The Fall and Miss Pettigrew! The man just exudes charm!

  • Demetrius

Should be interesting. Like to see Linus Roache in something assuming that AMC decides not to pick up “Law & Order”.

  • Brittany

I was just saying someone needed to hire Linus Roache for another series with how awesome he was on Law & Order.

    • Alan of Montreal

you need to see him in his breakout role, a british film titled Priest from the mid-90s. You want to see the man act, in that film he truly does act the bejesus out of his role!

      • Bobby’s Robot

        Hear hear

      • Angie

        That was an awesome movie.

  • ali

I love lee pace.. will watch anything if he’s in it!

  • Heather

GO Lee Pace! I really just want him to become that major star who gets amazing roles. OR for a Pushing Daisies movie.

    • Marissa

I agree a PD movie would be great. The story is just so unfinished. Are the comic books ever coming out?

      • Keir

I think a pop-up book would’ve been more fitting; or a picture book where there’s a lot more to read than in a comic, since the dialogue was so great.

But I do hope the comic is soon, I’ll take whatever I can get!

      • lee

        Yes PD movie PLEASE!!!

  • Chaz

WOW! A very impressive cast. A coup getting Ms. Bigelow to direct. Who wrote the script?

    • Chaz

To answer my own question, Tony winning Oscar nominated John Logan.

    • Maggie

this is an incredible cast. 3 tony winners and 2 nominees? holy cow.

  • Ryan

For a moment I thought this meant Lee Pace was playing an ADA on Law & Order LA. lol.

  • Amber

Yay! I’m so happy Lee Pace is getting a lead role (I’m assuming) in what looks like a prestigious project. I’ve missed him so much since Pushing Daisies.

  • Nina

wasn’t Norbert Leo Butz also in this cast?
    what happened?

    • Randi

Was just going to post asking this! I hope he is still in it. Even without him though, it’s a SICK cast.

      • Bobby’s Robot

Eddie Redmayne replaced him – don’t know why.

  • auds

omg i would watch lee pace in ANYTHING, but i do hope he’ll be in something GOOD soon.

  • Mary

Is this gonna be a musical? If so then please somebody run me over with their car ASAP.

    • Gina

You apparently have never seen a good musical. Also, no, I don’t think it will be. It’ll have music elements, no doubt. The main character is a composer/lyricist after-all. It’d be nice if they good get Sondheim to contribute music. Half-assed work of his would turn out etter than most everything else on Broadway…

      • Gina

Wow… could get* better* Always proofread, self.

  • Melissa

Lee Pace, Stark Sands, Eddie Redmayne, Hope Davis, Frank Langella, Patti LuPone what an awesome cast and having Kathryn Bigelow and John Logan makes it even better.

  • MomC

What a cast! Thank goodness Lee Pace might be back on my TV. Everyone else is a bonus.

  • Julia

LEE PACE AND STARK SANDS? Count me in.

  • Dory

I’m totally going to watch this. I miss seeing Lee Pace on my TV.

    • Rebekah

Agreed. I miss Lee Pace and Pushing Daisies sooo much! Here’s to hoping this show is good. Oh wait. Crap. I don’t get HBO! Does HBO ever post its TV episodes online? I certainly hope so!
