    Good choices.

    • Jackson

      Mathew Fox FTW!!!
Either him or Cranston and I will be a happy man :)

      • MovieMan

I hope Cranston wins. He was really great on ‘Breaking Bad’. I also hope that ‘Breaking Bad’ wins best Drama because it was THE best Drama on TV this year.

    • Person Who Talks

Fox, Laurie, Cranston, Emerson, and Paul all made excellent choices, however I liked Terry’s range in The Candidate better. The scene where he tells Jack how he became paralyzed is heartbreaking, and the scene right after that, where MIB tells Claire that he’s going to kill the remaining candidates had me trembling in fear of him. Two completely different roles=awesome.

      • ChrissyB

I agree, I was surprised with his choice, while The Substitute was good, The Candidate was so much more. Matthew Fox and Terry O Quinn for the wins.

    • aitu

Aaron Paul should have submitted the episode when he’s in the hospital after being beaten by Frank. The monologue he delivered to Walter White was the best piece of acting on tv all year.

      • JR

I agree. Aaron Paul should have submitted the episode titled “One Minute”. He was great in that one.

  • Maserda

Wow, it gonna be a tough choice…

  • Conor

Matthew Fox had better episodes than The End I think …

in other news, Terry O’Quinn and Michael Emerson BOTH picked the episodes they need to beat Aaron Paul – but I’m guessing Braugher will win out based on what I’m hearing about his performance on MoaCA (which I still haven’t seen …)

    • mary q contrary

Matthew Fox did have a lot to choose from, but The End was his finest work to date, bar none. The scene with his dad, in the church, was incredible.

      • Sydney

I agree with you. The End and Matthew Fox.. just absolutely amazing!! Loved that Terry and Michael Emerson also chose their best episodes. I might have to lean towards Emerson because that episode actually made me feel for Ben, brilliant acting!

      • Casey

Not a Matthew Fox fan but have to admit that scene in the church gave me goosebumps and mostly for the way he played it.

    • Carol

I think Andre Braugher is a long shot. He’s good on that show but MEN doesn’t have the gravitas that the other shows do. I’ve heard nothing but great things about Aaron Paul’s performance. But Terry O’Quinn and Michael Emerson may split the LOST vote. In fact, I think The Substitute was a good episode but it didn’t show off Terry’s range as well as The End did.

      • Sharlin

Yeah, I think Michael Emerson will win ONLY because Terry O’Quinn already got an Emmy for playing Locke.

      • @Sharlin

Terry O’Quinn won a few years ago, but Michael Emerson won the Emmy last year.

    • Roosey

Men of a Certain Age is a wonderful show, just outstanding.

      • dolphinlights

I really like Men of a Certain Age and look for more nominations in the years to come.

    • laylagalise

Yeah, I’m pulling for Matthew Fox, even though everyone’s work in this category was superb. Chandler and Cranston are fabulous in their episodes, but he last ten minutes of ‘The End’ was unparalleled.

  • Kristen

If Laurie wins Braugher wins then Braugher wins twice since he definitely helped make the psych hospital scenes work. I think Fox should win since he was actually brilliant in the finale but it would be fun to see Braugher with a score and an assist!

    • Carol

House was such a retread this year. The stuff in the psych hospital smacked so much of the last time House went to rehab. I just don’t think they explored any new territory.

  • Amy

Wow… I’ve been watching Season 4 of FNL trying to figure out what he would choose. It’s a wealth of riches he had to choose from. Hopefully he wins an Emmy to go with his championship ring…. :)

    • Rin

I wish! Unfortunately, the odds are not in his favor. :-( . I’m just thrilled he was nominated. LOVE FNL!

      • dolphinlights

        That’s not true.

      • dolphinlights

… Kyle Chandler 100% belongs in this category and was long overdue. He deserves to win.

    • pop

we all win because we get to see him in a tuxedo on emmy night!

      • dolphinlights

        True.

He wore a tux on Emmy night when he was nominated for Guest Starring role on Grey’s Anatomy. He presented with Katherine Heigl.

I hope he presents with Connie Britton this year.

  • JMaG

    So many great performances ^…

    it will definitely be tough..

My guess : Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul (Hard to bet against them)

  • Anna

That’s a great FNL episode that Kyle Chandler chose. But he’s up against so many great guys. I really hope he wins, he deserves this.

    • dawnomite

My memory is fuzzy. Which one was East of Dillon? Is that the S4 premiere?

      • dolphinlights

Yes. It’s when half his ‘team’ walked out on him.

        Excellent pick.

      • dawnomite

        Thanks!

  • Blake

Fox should have submitted “The Candidate” b/c of the heart-to-heart with his son.

    • Carol

The heart-to-heart with his son was in the Lighthouse episode.

  • Ace

If there was any justice in the world, watching Lost’s “The End” would actually benefit Michael and Terry’s nominations (they both outperformed Matthew in Matthew’s own episode. That subtle, understated scene between Locke and Ben in the end was twenty times better than Jack’s melodramatic death scene.)

Is there any chance Michael and Terry could actually split the award if the voting happens to end in a tie? They both deserve to win.

    • lalala

I respectfully disagree. While Locke and Ben were really good in the last episode, Matthew was just outstanding, including his so-called “melodramatic” death scene (his struggling, his collapse, his small joy when Vincent came, and his relief and tired happiness when he saw the plane flying by, all outstanding imho). I think Locke and Ben had much better episodes other than the last one that better showed their range.

    • J

The apology/forgiveness scene between Ben and Locke was lacking because… we’ve seen it before. It was a lot more interesting two years ago in “There’s No Place Like Home” when Ben told Locke he was sorry for making his life so miserable.

“The End” was perfect for Fox, though he would really benefit from a broader system in which his whole season’s work could be considered. I hope the voters who watch “Dr. Linus” for Emerson take into account Jack’s scene in the Black Rock when they vote for Lead Actor.

    • Lindsey

Nobody outperformed Matthew Fox in The End. In fact, the final season was the first time I thought Fox outperformed OQuinn for the majority of the season. Foxy’s closest competition in The End was Jorge Garcia, who is very underrated.

    • Zoey

So true. Matthew was fantastic in “The End” and completely stole the show. I’m so glad he submitted that episode. J has a point, though, the Emmys should really consider a different system where the entire season’s work is evaluated. It would be more fair, as some actors/actresses have only that one good episode, while some have multitudes to choose from.

  • sascha

michael c. hall won the golden globe and the SAG and I’m sure he’ll win the Emmy too because he deserves it. Shout out to Martin Short!

  • Whatever

I’m surprised Aaron Paul didn’t choose Full Measure just for the look on the face as he was about to shoot gale. Priceless.

    • Dan

Totally agree. He absolutely nailed it all season, but I thought he’d go with Full Measure for sure.

  • pop

i wish terry o’quinn had submitted LA X. what i thought was so great in that episode was how evil he was and how much that differed from his parts on the plane. the part that broke my heart was him getting off the plane in the wheelchair, and his expression. the substitute was awesome too – not just for his acting but for his bathtub scene.

  • Mary McDonald

That is a great choice for Kyle Chandler. He owned that episode, showing all kinds of emotions. His blow-up in the locker room is enough, but there’s also his pre-game speech, his half-time…not sure what to call it, but the look he had when he realized he had to forfeit the game…

    • dolphinlights

I agree, Mary. I think it was a great pick for Kyle Chandler.

From putting together a new team with scotch tape and spit, a team where no one knows how to play but everyone wants to be QB … a team that is inter-fighting with racial undertones … it finally drives Coach Taylor to lay down the law. And when the dust settles, it’s far from a pretty sight.

To forfeit a game, in Texas, is political suicide for a coach and his team … and yet, because of his injury history with Jason Street, what choice did he really have? A wonderful character study, and Chandler played all facets to perfection.

      • matt

That’s a great point about jason street. I’d never even thought about that with his forfeit. Adds another layer to that story.

    • dolphinlights

I wonder which ep will be submitted for Connie Britton? There are a couple I would pick. Maybe “I Can’t” or “Thanksgiving.” What do you think?

It will also be another look at Kyle.

      • John

        Connie submitted “After the Fall”.

      • dolphinlights

Thanks, John! I’ll have to take another look at that ep.

      • Anna

After the Fall? I feel that wasn’t her strongest episode. Thanksgiving or even Stay would have been better. After the Fall is another very strong Kyle Chandler episode IMO.

      • dolphinlights

I just re-watched After the Fall, and I agree with your assessment, Anna.

After the Fall and The Lights of Carroll Park (as well as East of Dillon) are all strong Kyle Chandler Eps.

And Thanksgiving and Stay are strong Connie Britton eps. (So is I Can’t, but why submit a controversial ep for an Emmy when there are others that are not?)

She does have a couple of awesome scenes in After the Fall … hopefully they will do the trick. ;)

  • Duke

Idk, bryan cranston should have choose “Fly”, maybe its hard to call. & i thought Aaron Paul was REALLY good in “One Minute”. tough choices though, does anyone think “The Substitute” was Terry O’Quinns best work?

    • Zoey

I dunno. Guy had a lot of great work. But I have to admit, I was paying more attention to Matthew, like I always do.

  • Kate

    MATTHEW FOX!!!

    • ChrissyB

      Yes! For the win!!!
