Image Credit: Jim Spellman/WireImage.com; David M. Russell/CBSIn what marks the first significant piece of casting for The Good Wife‘s sophomore season, Emmy winner Tammy Blanchard is joining the hit CBS drama as one of Glen Childs’ underlings and a confidante to Cary (Matt Czuchry).
Described as a “fair-minded assistant state’s attorney who looks more like an indie-band drummer than a lawyer,” Blanchard’s character — who will likely recur — befriends the department’s newest employee, Cary (who joined Childs’ camp after getting pink-slipped by Will and Diane in the finale).
Blanchard, whose credits include Guiding Light and Broadway’s Gypsy: A Musical Fable, won rave reviews and an Emmy award for her transcendent portrayal of a young Judy Garland in the 2001 ABC miniseries Me and My Shadows. (I never understood why Shadows didn’t make her a bigger star.)
In other Good Wife casting news, The Princess Bride‘s Prince Humperdinck (a.k.a. actor Chris Sarandon) has been tapped to recur as the irascible and domineering Judge Goode. (The gig should be a piece of cake for Sarandon, who recurred on Judging Amy as Judge Krumble.)
Finally, Justified regular Jacob Pitts will guest-star in The Good Wife‘s season premiere as the brilliant and cocky owner of a Wikileaks-type website who stands accused of murder.

Oh, what a coup for The Good Wife. Tammy is a fantastic and strong actress.
cool! I loved her in the Judy Garland movie and in the Sybil remake! great choice!
So, Ausiello, how much are you slipping to the Kings to get all of this scoop?
Cannot wait for the season to start– the cast just gets better and better! Tammy is superb, and will work great with Matt.
Also, this wins for “most attractive collection of guest stars scooped” ever. Yowza, Tammy and Jacob. Also, sure, they’re talented.
She’s looking more and more like Judy Garland! But prettier! No offense to Garland.
Chris Sarandon is also Susan Sarandon’s first husband and currently married to actress Joanna Gleason, who has guest starred on two episodes of TGW as…a judge!! hahaha
That was a brilliant mini-series.
Why doesn’t Judy Davis get more work??
Thanks Ausiello again for all the Good Wife scoop!
CHANGE THE TITLE OF THE SHOW FROM
THE GOOD WIFE..TO THE LAWYERS …
Because it is no longer about her
struggling to become a single mom
it is about a law firm..and that is
all another Boston Legal.!
Ah, love her. I wanted her to be Debbie Pelt on True Blood
Chris Sarandon also played a Supreme Court Justice on the short-lived John Wells Supreme Court Drama “The Court”, with Sally Field.
