AT&T announced today that it has closed a new deal with Rainbow Media to keep AMC, IFC and WE tv on U-Verse. “We’re very satisfied that we were able to reach the fair deal we wanted for our customers, one that includes the right content, across platforms, at prices that are in line with the marketplace, and that helps us with important strategic content initiatives,” according to an AT&T statement. “We are very grateful to our customers for their support.”
There was concern among some of U-Verse’s 2.3 million subscribers that they wouldn’t be able to tune into the July 25 return of the Emmy-winning Mad Men because of a contract dispute between the broadband TV operator and Rainbow. U-Verse’s contract with cable company expired yesterday.

YESSSS!
Relief!
I wonder if they just did this for free publicity for both U-Verse and Mad Men. They always seem to magically resolve these things at the last minute.
U-Verse customers in Mississippi have been without Rainbow Media channels (AMC/IFC, etc.) since LAST FALL. When I try to call customer service, I am told, “well, not all channels are available everywhere.” Unfortunately, this settlement will not change that. Boo.
