'Good Wife' exclusive: 'FlashForward' alum Michael Ealy named partner!

michael-ealyTime to update the signage at Lockhart & Gardner!

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Michael Ealy (FlashForward, Sleeper Cell) is joining the cast of CBS’s The Good Wife as Derrick Bond, the head of the D.C. firm that’s merging with Will and Diane’s cash-strapped outfit.

Per the initial casting breakdown, Derrick is described as a “casual, soft-spoken attorney whose egalitarian beliefs seem at odds with Will and Diane’s self-serving practices. However, under his pleasant and unassuming exterior, he has a steel-trap mind and can outmaneuver his most cunning adversaries and/or associates. Deeply impressed with Alicia’s quiet competence, he becomes her newest mentor.”

Ealy is set to appear in at least 10 episodes of Good Wife‘s upcoming second season.

As I reported last week, Emmy winner Tammy Blanchard is also joining the show’s season 2 ensemble as a colleague of Cary’s.

great news. He was amazing on Sleeper Cell.

  • beautiful man, lovely actor. this makes me more intrigued for the good wife but not enough to watch.

    • Jen

      you’re missing out.

    • Bernice

You are so missing out. CBS has been rerunning the season and I just started watching. Its really good.

  • JMaG

Ooh I like that move a lot. Very good actor.

  • Hillary

I wanted to watch this show and now and this addition has just sucked me in :)

  • Leesa

My God, they’re adding a lot of characters to this show. The ones already on it already have hard enough time getting scfeentime.

I do like the idea of him mentoring Alicia, though I hope he doesn’t become a cog in the love triangle plotless.one. Just being there to make Will jealous bores me.

    • Lori

I completely agree that adding yet another character seems like a lot, especially since it’s only had one season thus far. But I’ll trust that the great writers know what they’re doing

  • Mia

    Excellent news! LOVE Michael!

  • Sarah

    But can he cut hair?

  • TheObserver

I look into my crystal ball….and I see sexy times in ‘The Good Wife’s future. Yay!

  • Carlos

I love this show. In last season, the only black Attorney discussed the lack of diversity at the law firm with Wil and Diane. Bringing a black Attorney will give more diversity in the cast. I want to see Wil hook up with Alicia.

  • Carlos

Correction: Bringing in a black Attorney (Michael Ealy) will bring diversity to the cast and law firm.

    • Ethan

Um, Michael Boatman is black and he is already part of the law firm.

  • Cammie

Damn he fine! This show is great and I am glad he’s going to be on the show. I too want Will & Alicia to hook uo too. Can’t wait for next season.

  • Charlotte

And I thought Will Gardner was a little too young for a partner, this guy is even younger! Well, maybe this new lawfirm will make their name as young mavericks. So they seem to really pushing the DC stuff. Will there be bigger political aspirations for the characters in the future? I love this show, it combines two of my greatest loves – politics and the law.

    • Beth

Please not for Alicia, Kalinda ok but I want her and Will to get together!

  • CiCi217

Kalinda will be all over that

  • Mandy

Awesome. I like that they cast him as someone so young. That will make interesting dynamic between him and Will.

  • Dave

Lockhart Gardner & Bond. LGB. They can surely have a little fun with that acronym! This show is right there with SPARTACUS: B&S as best new show of last year, can’t wait for both to return.
