CBS orders Brett Ratner drama 'Chaos' for midseason

CBS confirmed that it has picked up Chaos, a drama from executive producers Brett Ratner (Prison Break) and Tom Spezialy (Desperate Housewives) about a ragtag group of CIA operatives tripped up by backstabbing and beaucratic snafus. The drama stars Freddy Rodriguez (Grindhouse) and Eric Close (Without a Trace).

The network has been high on the project and Spezialy since the May upfronts but concerns over the budget and where the show would film ended up stalling the deal before the actors’ contracts expired in June, an insider explained. CAA kept talks alive between the network and 20th Century Fox TV, which will produce the show, and a new agreement was hammered out this week. CBS always hoped to premiere the show later in the season to give Spezialy’s unique, comedic approach the promotional edge.

This latest pickup brings CBS’ drama order to five for the 2010-11 season: Hawaii 5-0, as well as Defenders and Blue Bloods, will bow this fall while the Forest Whitaker starrer Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior will premiere later in the year.

vI love younger men. I have dated only men at least 10 years younger and as much as 17 years younger than me for many years. I love the energy and a nice tight bod. Older men just aren’t the same, different mentality.lahh. I seem to have more in common with younger guys. They’re actually more fun and are usually more interested in me. I’m flattered. I think younger men like cougars because they have no agenda, don’t usually want to get married and are usually very independent and don’t need a man to take care of them. I meet younger men on this website:(10Year gap.com

I see CBS is still trying to give Eric Close a job. What is this, his 5 CBS show now? GL, dude!

Where is CBS going to put this come midseason? There is really no room at all. They already need to find a spot for the Criminal Minds spinoff and Hawai’i Five-O is pretty much a lock for a full season so it’s not going in that timeslot.

CBS cancelled good dramas to make room for shows that are copycats of teh shows cancelled come on people. Eric Close I have watched him on tv since he was on Santa Barbara he is getting old an I am tired of seeing him. CBS EXECS. NEED TO GET A LIFE.

This sounds like a lot of other shows that are coming out next year. Yawn!

Jeeze! At this point I would be willing to watch an hour long broadcast of a homeless guy sitting on a park bench picking his nose if for no other reason than it’s an original idea!!! I’m so tired of the same old crap with the same old actors.

    Pass.

I was really disappointed when it was announced earlier that this deal had fallen through, and I’m excited that it’s back in the works again. Freddy Rodriguez and Stephen Rea are exciting actors and this show is expected to have great scripts and production values. Bravo to CBS for doing the right thing! As to where it’s going to go in the schedule, at least a couple of the new Fall shows are certain to fail–that never doesn’t happen. They’ll find a place, for sure.

The buzz for the CM spin off is mostly negative. If it were any good it would be premeiring at the start of the season rather than the mid-season plan B spot.

I think Eric Close is gorgeous and just has not found his niche yet! As for CRIMINAL MINDS if they take it off the air I am leaving CBS! Same with NCIS, CSI-NY, and CSI MIAMI! I HATE SIT COMS!!!!! They can take them all OFF! To me the reality shows CBS still has are OVER! PUT THEM OUT TO PASTURE! I want to get away from reality and just get lost in a story! I live in reality, in my own jungle, in my own race and with a group of people in my own home with conflict! I don’t need to see a bunch of strangers doing it on TV!

These comments on here surprise me. When I first heard about the plot for Chaos, I was excited. Not only because it has a wonderful cast (Steven Rea, Tim Blake Nelson, Freddy Rodriguez) but in my opinion, it sounds different. So I was annoyed to previously hear that it wasn’t picked up immediately, while a bunch of other shows that in my humble opinion, look as though they’ll be cancelled within months were snatched up quickly.

I can’t wait for this show. I think people should give it a chance. Sometimes what sounds like a dime a dozen show can turn out to be one in a million

I’m delighted to hear that CBS has picked up Chaos for the mid-season. I was disappointed when it wasn’t chosen for the fall. My joy is mostly for personal reasons. I became a big fan of James Murray when BBC America aired the series Primeval. Since then I’ve managed to see a couple of his movies and his work on television in the UK. I think he’s a wonderful actor and will surely find favor with the U.S. female demographic. In any case, he’ll be coming to my living room each week, and that in itself is brilliant! Thank you, CBS.
