The Damages actress— who appeared as Selleck’s love interest in the pilot for the cop-family drama—has been dropped from the cast for creative reasons. The recurring role will now be played by Rescue Me’s Andrea Roth.
No explanation was given for the recast. The few scenes in the pilot that featured Moniz will not be reshot with Roth.
What do you think? Will Roth have better chemistry with Selleck than Moniz would have? Am I the only one who kinda-sorta only ever pictures him opposite Courteney Cox? Answers below.

Considering that the show hasn’t even aired yet, I think “shocker” is bit of an overstatement.
I agree. “Shocker” is a bit extreme in the early stages of a series. Shocker would be appropriate if she were recast two years in to the run of the series.
I totally agree. Shocker is not the word I’d use. I don’t even know who Wendy Moniz is. I do know Andrea Roth from several Lifetime movies, and I like her. A bit on the young side for Selleck, don’t you think? In his dreams!!!

Please tell us Tom Selleck IS NOT the diva from your blind item. If so, then he got his way, right??? (Hope he takes his vitamins, or whatever.) Also, if true, he must have got that way late in life! Wendy has a long history of being difficult on set as a creative actress. She can do it all, but she has a hard time not getting her way. There are many stories of her antics floating out there. Ask Simon Bakker.
Listen, Wendy Moniz may not be the Katherine Hepburn of her time but when I lived in LA I dated her and I can tell you that if you tell her you race bikes she’ll give you a pittsburgh plate job…..yeoooww!!
Is Rescue Me finished filming in it’s entirety? Or does this bode badly for Tommy’s wife in Rescue Me?
Rescue Me has finished filming. They completed this season and next years final season at the same time.
What will happen to her on Rescue me?
They recast Flex Alexander too. He was Wahlberg’s partner. I think recasting on these pilots happens a lot. Not sure it’s really that shocking.

It seems doubtful that Selleck was the blind item. Everyone hated the Mystery Person. Firing the love interest wouldn’t help anything.

Tom Selleck is 65 (according to wikipedia) so, yep, young enough to be his daughter. I know couples with 22 year age gaps, but not that many.
I love Tom Selleck, BUT just once I would like to see an actress playing opposite him closer to his age…there are some RIGHT???

I never understood picking her up in the first place. I remember her from Nash Bridges, and thought she was terrible. And that was compared to Cheech Marin and Yasmin Bleeth!!
