Comic-Con video: 'True Blood' trio on Tara's comedy chops, Lafayette's new BF, and the big Sam reveal

cc10-true-blood-2Lafayette playing the role of romantic leading man? Tara providing comic relief? Sam morphing into an over-protective big brother? Is this Bon Temps or is this the freakin’ Twilight Zone? True Blood‘s Nelsan Ellis, Rutina Wesley, and Sam Trammell dropped by EW.com’s video suite at Comic-Con yesterday to talk up season 3 past, present, and future.

For more interviews from the biggest geek event in the galaxy, head over to our Comic-Con video hub! And, of course, now would be the time to start following me on Twitter at @michaelausiello.

What about Eric? For me he’s still the main reason I watch.

    • Liz

*sigh* Enough with the Eric thing already! Books are one thing, the show is another. And in the show, as Alan said, Bill & Sookie are soulmates.

      • Kim

Maybe she wasn’t talking about E/S, maybe she just wants to see more of him, because he is beautiful and a great actor who we hardly get to see.

      • @ Kim

Hardly get to see? What rock are you living under Kim. Alexander Skarsgard is one of the most overexposed stars around. I mean, really. What a stupid thing to say.

      • franklinsgirl

Applause for Liz…you said it. I am sick to death of all the talk about Eric and AS. He isn’t that good looking OR that good of an actor.

      • lorna

piss off liz. bill and sookie are boring. i want alcide and sookie or eric and alcide. tara needs to be killed off.

    • Tarc

Skarsgard is OK, but he’s not really very much like book Eric – either in looks or character. He’s also not a nice guy. I just don’t get TV!verse Erik/Sookie people. That relationship works somewhat better in the books, but I don’t se it at all on the TV show.

      • Liz Lemon

What are you talking about? He’s the perfect Eric. Eric is a really tall, blonde, viking, supermodel in the books. The only difference on the show is the back story Alan has created and Eric’s hair is short. Other than that, Eric is spot on perfect. Eric is an a*shole in the books too. Sookie only falls for him after he loses his memory and he becomes all innocent like a scared puppy. I think the relationship is building up better on the show. It’s clear that Eric has a thing for her, but he’s in denial. The same occurs in the books, only Eric is more interested in sex. I don’t think he ever really loves her in the books.

      • Shannon

I have to argue this point. In the most recent book, he admits his love for Sookie. I believe he is as sincere as he can be.

    • Lisa

@OHVamp I’m with you! Forget the naysayers, Eric is the man! Sookie and Bill are boring…and Sookie alone annoys me.

      • stacey

amen sisters!!! Eric was the only reason I watched. I love Franklin now too. Bill can disappear, what a snooze. I don’t get the fuss there. To each his/her own right?

      • A.Tom

Even on the show I get the impression there is a lot we don’t know about Eric, including his real feelings for Sookie. Even Eric has not come to terms or admitted his feelings for Sookie. All he knows is that he desires her. But if they start developing their relationship (which I hope they will) we may gain more insight into his feelings and then there relationship will grow.

I just hope AS does not leave the show.

    • TARA_LOVER

Yep, I think people should forget about ASkars as Eric, because his career is taking off in other directions.. I don’t see this great appeal with Eric.. I love Sookie and Bill more..

I Love Sam, Lafayette and Tara – Can’t wait for tonight!!

  • eliott256

@OHVamp Alex wasn’t at Comic-con, so there isn’t much Eric scoop.

Also, anyone thinking that Sam’s Dad is using his brother in like cage fighting or something?

    • eliott256

      *dog fighting

    • Cheekee

When i saw Tommy with all the scars and then he changed into a Pitbull, I imdediately thought about dog fighting. Could it be that the reason why joe-lee called him at the bar angry, and come over later to Sam’s trailer? Because he was going to miss a fight?

    • Randi

he is – dog fighting…somehow saw this coming from a mile away once we saw Tommy’s scars and what he shifted into…hopefully Sam tears the roof off the place and f**ks up his parents!

  • Angie

    Thanks for the vid, Ausellio!!

  • fernando

The girl who plays Tara looks so beautiful

    • Rook

      Agreed

    • Angela

She really does. It’s nice to see her look happy instead of mad. The happy seems more like her personality.

    • Liz Lemon

Completely agree. I wish they would dress her up a little on the show.
I’m loving her relationship with Franklin. It’s so funny!! I’m loving it.

  • Kim

“Hardly get to see? What rock are you living under Kim. Alexander Skarsgard is one of the most overexposed stars around. I mean, really. What a stupid thing to say.”

I didn’t mean we never see Skarsgard, I mean we don’t see a lot of Eric on the show. His storyline is picking up now, sure, but we want to hear about whats to come with him, which unfortunately we didn’t get much of as Alex wasn’t at CC

  • charlotte

Its only the third season of the show and they are already starting to develop Eric into a stronger character. Bills character is falling, fast. Alan may say that he thinks Bill and Sookie are soulmates but we have to remember that he is using Charlaine Harris’ material for the most part. True he can do what he wants with it but when Charlaine allowed him to use her charaters it was because he said he would satay true to the spirit of the books. I’m sorry to Bill fans but that means Bill probably isn’t the great southern gentleman he seems and it probably means we will see an Eric/Sookie romance in the near future.

    • franklinsgirl

Actually, Charlaine has no control whatsoever over the show. It’s Alan Ball’s baby and he’s taking it farther and farther away from the books, thank God.

Stephen is the leading man on the show and that isn’t going to change. Eric may get his moment, but Bill and Sookie will be together again.

  • Justin

Amazing actors…amazing third season. I would rate this season a perfect 10/10 so far. I have been a fan since season 1…these 3 are among my favorites on the show. :)

  • asia

Hmm I hope Ab gives the bill fans a happy ending condsidering how CH made him into such a bad guy and all.I am tired of the sookie/eric ish you want sookie/eric read the books. Bill isn’t going anywhere he signed for 7 years and I sure the actor ain’t just going to not get a storyline. Thisn’t the books.

  • cristy

Well said asia. I’m so tired of the whole sookie/eric thing. seriously I don’t think Stephen Moyer will get bumped from leading man to supporting character. Besides, Eric is sooo overrated. Bill and Sookie forever bitches!!

  • Diana

All this book/show, Eric stuff reminds of one of my favorite lines from Lorena: “…blah, blah, blah, blah. And ten minutes later, blah.” I love this show and am along for the ride – wherever Alan Ball takes us!

    • MKR

      *Applause*

  • sarita

Great interview. Rutina is so different from Tara, even her accent is different; I like interviews with her. Part of me wants Tara to escape Franklin, but it seems like Tara would be much more interesting and cool as a vampire. I’m really curious about what’s going on with Sam’s dad. Good guess, about the dog fighting possibility.

  • Neliel

Only girls or women who like a-holes like Eriic. Because he is a big a-hole in the books and in the TV series you get to see him for what he truly is.

    • Neliel

I didn’t know that Stephen was signed for 7 seasons I am so glad because I always thought that Bill had big potential as a character. But for some reason he got tossed aside.

  • R

Nelsan Ellis is adorable. I’m glad that Sam has better material this season. I have always loved Sam, in books and in the series.

Also, Mott has added so much to the series. His comedic timing is priceless. I always giggle when I text now.

  • TARA_LOVER

Tara is awesome! And Rutina looks gorgeous. I am still rutting for Tara and Sam, they are both unlucky with family and have great chemistry..

  • Vanny

I actually like Tara! I think Rutina is a great actress. Sookie annoys me immensely – sorry Sookie, nothing personal, but your character is annoying. Frankly, i prefer the stories of the ‘Non-lead” characters.
