'V' season two: More details on the visitors, and we'll meet Anna's mom!

Producers promised to uncover a lot more mysteries about ABC’s V – like what the visitors really look like, how long they’ve been here, and what the heck they want from us – in the new season of the drama that’ll return in November. During today’s panel at Comic Con, executive producer Scott Rosenbaum acknowledged that “not as many cards were turned over” last season, so he hopes to share a lot more about the visitors under Anna’s leadership, including how their extended stay has changed world events and why they’re planning to stick around.

“It will be chock full of great reveals,” Rosenbaum promises.

He also teased that Lisa (Laura Vandervoort) will look for the nurturing she’s not receiving from mother Anna (Morena Baccarin) by developing a closer relationship with Erica (Elizabeth Mitchell), while Tyler (Logan Huffman) will return the favor by saddling up with Anna. Most importantly, fans will finally get to meet Anna’s mom, Diana, in the first episode; through her, viewers will see where the visitors came from, Rosenbaum says. Word is the producers are talking to Jane Badler, the original alien baddie in the 1983 version of V, but Rosenbaum would not confirm on stage at Comic Con.

“Most importantly, fans will finally get to meet Anna’s mom, Diana”

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW

Is she Diana in name only, or played by Balder?

    • Nic.

That was my first thought! How incredible would it be if they got Jane Badler to play Diana!

    • The Scooptress

Read the rest short of article where that exact issue is addressed you useless troll, Michael.

      • The Scooptress’ Master

Haha! The Scooptress is hilarious. I love her already. Too bad she obviously got dumped by her boyfriend (girlfriend?) and picked a forum on an entertainment site to vent her anger. *pat pat* It’s ok Scooptress. Let it all out.

  • ObiHave

It’s got to be Badler or why bother? Hide your guinea pigs.

    • The Scooptress

      Useless parrot.

  • Barry

They better hurry revealing their secrets since the show probably won’t last past the coming season.

    • The Scooptress

Good point. EW will happily bury their head in the sand about and continue to blindly shill this show however as long as the Advertising dollars from V keep rolling in to EW.

  • M Weyer

Have to admit, always found it intriguing the idea the Visitors have secretly been minipulating our world for who knows how many decades to push us to a state of desperation for them. Sure, there are the easy ones (JFK, Archduke Ferdinand, backing Hitler) but maybe smaller stuff from the types of entertainment to religion that could have sowed more problems for humanity and paved the way for them. Something to consider.

    • The Scooptress

You need a summer hobby. You seem very stressed out.

  • dee123

Jane has been living in Australia for over 10 years now, she most recently appeared in the long running soap “neighbors” (Where Guy Pierce, Russell Crowe, Alan Dale & Jesse Spencer got their start) as a villainous character named of course… Diana.

    • The Scooptress

Don’t do research like that! You’ll expose the piss poor job, the EW writers do these days.
(The EW staff just copy their “articles” directly out of the press packets send to them by the greed networks. EW happily bends over for whoever is paying the bills. There hasn’t been an honest article from EW in over 3 yeras.
      It’s a shame.

      • bamalam

based on all the comments you’ve made tonight…sounds like someone is bored alone in their house…have to get your jollies someway, huh? …since nobody wants anything to do with you.

      • Dory

Thank you, bamalam! WTH do idiots spend time trolling on a site they profess not to like? Sounds like Scoopy’s pissed she didn’t get a job and can’t get out of mom’s basement.

  • Madd

I would LOVE if Jane Balder’s Diana was on! But if Diana would come on the show, how would they explain things? That would mean that the human race somehow forgot that the visitors from over 20 years ago.

    • cheese

Isn’t this series essentially a remake or something? It’s kinda like how the Original “Get Smart” guy was in the Steve Carell version of the movie but as a different character.

Or maybe they can retcon the whole original experience…I haven’t seen the original series…but they can say this Diana failed and just modified the entire planet’s memories so the events never occurred…

      • Madd

I just saw the original miniseries (V and V: The Final Battle) for the first time about a month ago (my husband bought the DVDs). At the end of Final Battle Diana is shown escaping, so…maybe your theory is right?
I’m probably reading too much into this. Despite my love for Elizabeth Mitchell I haven’t watched the new series.

  • Shane

If they fired the horrid actress leading the show, Lizzie, it might survive. Elizabeth Mitchell could not act to save her life. She is just godawful. Her expressions consist of lip tremble one and lip tremble two, coupled with lip bite.
We were thrilled the night she died on Lost, sick when she came back.

    • black

      We? Speak for yourself!

    • Sharlin

      Blasphamy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Elizabeth Mitchell is AWESOME.

    • Peter

Somehow I knew you watched her on Lost. Only a Skater could possibly dislike Mitchell.

    • Erika

I kinda thought she was a bad actress too. I remember her from the soap opera Loving and she was so boring compared to the actress that originated her character. Now though, I like her for two reasons: 1) my husband said she looks like me (and I’m guessing my husband finds me attractive) and 2) her character in V shares my name. Also though, from articles I read about her and interviews, she seems like a nice lady so I want to like her now. I’ve seen worse acting (Steven Seagal?) Can’t wait for season two!

  • me

jane badler was superb in “v” , really good new .

  • Lana

Wait, it’s coming back in November? Yay! I could’ve sworn it was coming back for mid-season…

  • Mincha

“‘not as many cards were turned over’ last season’”? They need a new deck! I had relatively high hopes for V, but so far it hasn’t lived up to them.(The original was cheesy but fun. This version is just kinda flat.) But it’d be great if they could get Jane Badler.

  • Daryl

What a coup if they could get Jane Badler! I think fans of the old series would be more on board with the deliciously evil Diana. She was such a great villain!

  • Diplan

Are they gonna fix the special effects???

    • sawyerf8

      Ha lol
That would be great, cause I cannot closing my eyes and try to justify the bad effects by saying “they have a TV Show budget” for a long time

I really do hope though that they keep their promises about everything they’re saying. From all I’ve read so far what the producers are planning in S2, sounds like all the things the fans want for the show is coming up

  • Nathan

Should have been a miniseries, there was probably just enough good material for a 5 episode arc. Terrible show.

    • Tom

Yeah, the first episode was quite good and it just took a nosedive after that. It was like watching Heroes on fast forward.

  • tipsy

Hopefully Diana will eat Tyler in the first episode. Everyone hates him. Plus Lisa and Joshua should be together.

    • Heather P

That would be a great idea! Tyler eaten by Diana (Or Anna). Then we’d get rid of the punk kid and Erica would be more driven to get rid of the Vs.
I can’t see Lisa and Joshua together, though I did love the bow he gave her when he called her “my queen”.

  • Craig

YAY!!! Jane Badler is so freaking good!! If they don’t cast her I think the show will most certainly tank. It would be such a slap in the face to all the fans. I would love to see Badler return to American television and to see her spar with Morena!
