Exclusive: USA 'Legal' drama recruits 'Spirit' star Gabriel Macht

Macht, who also appeared in NBC’s short-lived psychic thriller The Others, will play Harvey, a brilliant, successful, and charming attorney at a top Manhattan law firm. He goes out on a limb and hires Mike, an unmotivated
but brilliant college student (played by relative newcomer Patrick J. Adams), even though he doesn’t have a law degree.

The Deep End‘s Aaron Krosh penned the pilot script and will serve as exec producer alongside Doug Liman, David Bartis, and Gene Klein.

Description of the show sounds Meh, but when was the last time USA failed to deliver?

  • Margaret

I adore Macht – he was sublime in ‘The Others’ and showed great promise in ‘A Love Story For Bobby Long’. Looking forward to this.

Just because I absolutely share in your love of Gabriel Macht, I will point out that it’s A Love SONG for Bobby Long. Because I know you’ll understand I don’t mean to nitpick so much as I want to go all fangirl over this thing myself.

    • Me

Loved him in Bobby Long – fantastic movie

Macht was also in “Because I Said So” which had a great cast including Diane Keaton, Mandy Moore, Lauren Graham, and Tom Everett Scott and I absolutely fell in love with him there. Spirit was pretty awful, so I hope he redeems himself here.

I hope he is not hiring this newcomer to actually practice law without a degree, passing the bar exam and a license! As a secretary, paralegal, administrative assistant, investigator, fine …

    • Ginny

Ummm, snset, you know this is not real right? It’s the description of a TV show. It has very little basis in reality.

  • Dâmaris

YESSSSS! I love Gabriel so these are AWESOME news. I was worried I wouldn’t see much of him anymore, but now I’ll see him every week yay! I fell the same about the show’s description, though. We’ll see. I hope it’s good and it goes well.

Oh good. Another USA procedural. If they were smart, they’d make a totally serialized series to shake things up.

  • Kim

This does not make me happy:( I’m glad he’s getting work, but I think he’s better than a USA show. HIs work in A Love Song for Bobby Long was phenomenal and he still should be doing movies!

  • Jessica

Great show but Thesexhookup was better, go see it

  • Tego Livi

He was great as “the naked guy” on Spin City, too.

Good for Mr. Macht. It sucks when your big break turns out to be a bomb.

  • sommer

I just love him, and love every show USA comes out with him.I really hope it works out for him.I fell in love with him when I saw “Because I Said So” and have been hoping to find him catch a break!Hopefully this show delivers like all the other USA shows do!

I am so tired of lawyer shows. On the other hand, I’ve always liked Macht – he’s charming and ridiculously good-looking. Oh what the hell.

  • Christian

Sorry to hear about your breakup, Miss Vxvds.
