'Parenthood' exclusive: Billy Baldwin to romance Lauren Graham!

lauren-grahamImage Credit: Glenn Harris/PR Photos; Chris Haston/NBCWith her insanely charming teacher beau (a.k.a. the awesome Jason Ritter) otherwise engaged on NBC’s The Event, Lauren Graham has been assigned a new boyfriend on Parenthood. And he’s rather famous!

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Billy Baldwin is joining the cast as Adam’s (Peter Krause) boss and a love interest for Graham’s Sarah.

NBC declined to comment, but an insider tells me that Baldwin—who recurred on Gossip Girl last season as Serena’s MIA dad—will appear in multiple episodes of the sophomore drama.

Thoughts? Does Baldwin have what it takes to fill Ritter’s shoes? Sound off below!

She is way too pretty for him.

    • Nick

      Agreed.

      • rush

my firast reaction was :NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!
she is gonna eat him up ALIVE!!!! baldwin cant act worth a damned!!!(granted ive only seen him as serenas father on gossip girl, but COME ON!!!!!) hopefully people wont warm up to the character and the producers will have to write him off QUICK!!!!

      • Will

So let me get this straight…someone thought it would be a good idea to
1: Give Billy Baldwin a job
        2: Make him someones boss
3: and a love interest for Lauren Graham.

        I’m still confused.

    • Liz

      Agreed.

  • Lauren

    ewww she needs someone hot!

    • Tarc

      Exactly. Ew.

    • gigi

They could of cast Stephen Baldwin, so I won’t complain about Billy. :)

    • J. Norman

Don’t think so. If this was real life she should simply get her life bvack on track by taking advantage of the opportunty she has with her parents by going back to school and being a positive influence for her kids.
In particular, she doesn’t need to find additional stress by dating her brothers boss. That is a recipe for disaster. She already has a very skaky relationship with her brothers wife. BUT. . . this is TV, so who ever said brains and logic come into play.

  • Nicole

So, no Mike O’Malley? Is he on Glee full time now?

    • ggny

yah Mike O’Malley is a Regular on Glee now

    • Sam

yeah he’s a series regular for them now…

he would have been so cute for this though! lauren deserves only the best…

      • Clara

Sam, Nicole isn’t asking about Mike O’Malley for this role. She’s mentioning him because he played the character of Jim last season on P-hood, who had a crush on Sarah.

  • Summer

Hooking up with Baldwin serves her right for being so mean to Luke all of those years ago on Gilmore Girls.

    • Clara

Seriously, Summer, get over it. Gilmore Girls is over – move on with your life.

      • rush

when was she ever mean to luke???? if anything luke was a little scardycat who couldnt scrounge up enough courage to actually ask her out!!! and carla: GILMORE GILRS 4 EVER <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3!!!!

      • Clara

Oh, yes, I still love Gilmore Girls . . . deeply! : ) I was just saying that people shouldn’t be rude to Lauren Graham because of storylines on GG since it ended three years ago. They should let her move on and focus on the Parenthood show and quit bringing up Luke.

    • Allyson

Oh, I miss GG as much as the next person, & I think a perfect solution would be bringing Scott Patterson to Parenthood to play a love interest for Sarah! haha just kidding, because that would be awkward and I’d keep calling them Luke & Lorelai.
Lauren Graham is freakin’ awesome, and I’m so glad she’s finally back on television. :)

      • Sarah

I hate to admit it but I’m on the same page as all these other obsessed GG fans. I NEVER get tired of that show. Bringing Patterson onto the show would probably make me ridiculously happy but I think that they are trying to really move Graham away from her Lorelai character (although frankly, she can’t be anyone else). Sarah is supposed to be a lot darker, less quirky.

  • Ana

Will Jason Ritter ever come back (at least for one episode)? I’m not a big fan of this Baldwin brother and I liked the idea of a younger man for Graham’s character…

    • honestly, i think it depends on how the event does. if it bombs, he’ll be back (probably full time).

      • Liz

Hope for a bomb then eh?

      • Ana

Bomb or no bomb, that is the question… The Event looks pretty good (so did Flashforward and we all know how that went). As long as he has a spot saved on Parenthood, just in case (Billy Baldwin does not have what it takes to fill his shoes)… Either way, I’m always happy to have Ritter back on my TV screen.

  • Mandy

No matter what role he is playing, he always comes off as a swarmy creep. I don’t want Sarah dating a louse. So this is bad.

    • Ally

EXACTLY. Billy Baldwin is just creepy and always comes off that way. Awful casting.

  • Michelle

Billy Baldwin?? Really?? Not a good match, in my opinion

  • fifty8th

At least it is not Stephen

    • Mark Buchanan

      Ditto to that!

    • nodnarb

Which one is the crazy Jesus freak?

      • Jenn

        Stephen is the bible thumper!

  • Jenny

Oh, gross. LG and her character deserve so much more.

  • Diva

I don’t watch the show but I love Lauren Graham and I am very disappointed to hear that Billy Baldwin will be playing her love interest. NO BALDWIN should play her love interest. They aren’t at her level.

  • jen

LAME! bring back Jason Ritter, the characters had great chemistry. Who cares if he’s on a different network?

    • actually he’s on the same network…

  • Stacey

No. Baldwin Boys are overrated. And I’m not sure any of them can act.

    • googliezoo

Well, I love Adam Baldwin on Chuck. Casey rocks!

      • JennieO

Not the same Baldwins. But you’re right, Adam Baldwin rocks. Now THAT’S a love interest I could get behind.

  • Gert

I agree with the poster who says he always comes across as smarmy. But I’ll reserve judgment until I see him in the role.

  • orville

Aw, I liked her with Mike O’Malley, but if it means more of him on Glee, I’m all for that.

  • robinepowell

I thought he was returning to G.G.? Different networks on two different shows, he’s going to be busy.

Why is he in such demand all of a sudden?

    • Ljohnson

I thought it would be good to see her with Scott Patterson again, but he is also going to be on The Event! Will wait and see the chemistry between her and Billy Baldwin before I pass judgement.
