Armchair Casting Director: 'The Mentalist'

Van Pelt’s gettin’ some! The Mentalist is currently casting a potential love interest for Amanda Righetti. The deets…

Craig O’Laughlin: In his late 20s to early 30s, Craig is a football player-turned-FBI agent. Translation: Actors with fewer than six packs need not apply. The role is recurring.

ACD suggestion: Eric Winter.

I volunteer… I know it will be difficult makin out with Amanda, but I’m sure I can persevere!

  • Chif

    Aaaw poor Rigsby!

  • Lorie

Nice choice, Michael. I got another one – Brandon Routh.

IMO, the new guy should have the same physique as Rigsby’s.

    • xsikal

No more Brandon Routh please. Hated him on Chuck. Guy cannot act to save his life.

      • Beth

I agree–I can’t stand Brandon Routh either. He’s trying to be Tom Cruise, both his voice and his appearance.

  • ST

Love the Eric Winter suggestion. Totally fitting.

  • xsikal

Glad to see they are not discriminating against actors with 9 packs!

  • Alia

I vote for Henry Simmons from Shark. He’s gorgeous, believable as a cop AND an ex-footballer, and tall enough to be a good match for Amanda on screen.

  • Maggie

agreed!! he is delicious. he’s married to rosalyn sanchez from without a trace, they’re going to have ridiculously beautiful children, wow.

    • Kim

Actually, Rosalyn Sanchez is married to Eric Winter. They got married 2 years ago. Henry Simmons was engaged to Lauren Sanchez, but they broke off the engagement.

  • Tristan

How about Isaiah Mustafa, the Old Spice guy.

  • Jenn

Bailey Chase gets my vote. :)

  • GeekGirl13

Since Shonda and ABC dumped him, I vote for Enrique Murciano.

Given how badly the writers handled Rigsby and Van Pelt’s relationship last season, my only hope is that this new guy ends up pushing them into a relationship in which they behave a little more like grown-ups.

  • Angel

Love Eric Winter and want him back on my tv but maybe not this show. Too bad Brothers & Sisters dropped the ball with Jason.

  • Bruce_F

    What about Tahmoh Penikett?

  • CE

How about Chris Lowell from Private Practice/Veronica Mars? Surfer body could pass for football body…
