I know there are some fans who dislike Castiel just because they think he takes screen time away from Sam and Dean, which is ridiculous. They can’t be in every single frame of every episode, and Cas is used pretty sparingly on the show. He’s not even in every ep.

What’s wrong with slash? I’m a straight male and am not into that kinda thing at all but I dont think there’s anything wrong with female fans fantasizing about the male character being together (even if Sam and Dean are related hahaa).
It’s a little disappointing to know that lesbianism is accepted in the media while homosexuality or slash is largely considered “disgusting”. I like that slash has been mentioned in the show without being a joke or something to be mocked. Well done to the writers for that!

Barry, Slash in general is not considered disgusting my fan communities, but it is a bit odd to fantasise about two characters getting together who are SIBLINGS. But the fact is they are actors who look nothing alike, so I guess if they can get past that…I mean it’s not like in the early episodes they didn’t play with that slightly unnerving element of sexual tension between the two of them. You can’t blame people when their minds run away with them, but I have to admit I still find it a little ick.

I find it the highest form of hypocrisy when the Castiel fans have little tantrums if anyone disagrees all ‘how can you say this’ um last I checked this was America and freedom of speech is something ever person is entitled to. I dislike the character too and i won’t apologise for it nor will I reply to those who like them shouting them down for their opinion so how about the same respect in return for people who feel differently Cas fans.

Cas was the one who pulled Dean out of Hell, and even that was too much for some of the angels. Also, John’s already escaped once, although Lucifer and Michael being in The Abyss together might mean that might change soon. As to the comment of Cas being wooden, this was purposely done in the beginning to show that he had no will of his own, and he was totally lost when the angels rejected him.

Count me as one of the few that don’t want Daddy Winchester back. He was a great hunter and all, but not exactly Father of the Year.
Adore Cas/Misha and so happy to have him back. But I am not happy with the way they are changing him. I miss all his moments with Dean. He is the main reason I watch the show now and can’t wait to see him again. Misha Collins brings so much charisma and talent to the role of Cas. Wish the Powers that Be understood that more.

Sam and Dean all the way, the rest of the supporting cast need to be strong to support their lead roles but they’re not what keep me watching, best of luck to Bobby, Grandpa Mitch P, Lisa and Ben and Castiel though. I do find it sad how fast Supernatural fandom is to hate on the female regulars to the point where they’re killed but are fine with guys. I don’t feel like the supporting characters make the show for me J2 do.
Female regulars who are strong, independent, well-written, and not just shoehorned-on love interests are fine. Oh, wait – that just leaves Ellen.
Ellen was the only female character I liked, probably in the entire show (Second would be a distant Lisa and then maybe…Sarah?) and could rival Jim Beaver for my favourite recurring character.
I love Cas, but if there isn’t a decent reason for him to stick around…
As for the JDM debate: I think that there would be no good reason for John to come back to the present. IF they could have him do a flashback then that would be awesome, otherwise…
Very, very true. Ellen was great, but other than her, there’s been no other female good enough for the fandom. If they wouldnjust bring a kickass female hunter in who isn’t just a love interest for either of the two, I’m sure it would work, but apparently the writers think that’s all females on this show are good for.

I love Castiel and I’m glad he’ll still be a part of the show. From what I’ve seen and read, a lot of the fans are crazy about him. That’s why the character has stuck around. Thanks for this interview! Misha Collins is great.
Castiel is great, true a lot of fans just don’t like him there were some that were pretty sure that by the end of S5 it would be reveled Castiel was a traitor and had played Dean all along, kind of what Ruby did to Sam, just crazy! I personally think he added good things to the story line, he helped the guys in various occasions and was some kind of extra support for Dean, I hope we see some more of that.
And Misha well that man in crazy in a really good way, his next job should be in a sitcom, he would be hilarious.

The Castiel and Dean nonsense makes me want to turn off. I’m sorry i just find it tedious television. I mean Dean who never believed in angels or god or any higher power is now trusting an angel, that’s ridiculous and frankly bad writing. I’d never believe that of Season 1 Dean in fact Season 1 Dean would probably hit Season 5 Dean in the face. I like Dean with trust issues, like I love Sam with heart. This season is going to suck if they forget that it’s also going to suck if they keep giving extra story time to the supporting roles that should be precisely that, supporting, not leads, regular supporting. I think the writers should try and remember that.

Clearly your definition of chemistry greatly differs from mine. There are a lot of characters that Dean has no chemistry with…and Castiel isn’t one of them.
Castiel earned Dean’s trust when he, you know, turned his back on his own kind and threw down with Team Free Will. Castiel is as much an honorary Winchester brother (well okay, first cousin at least) as Bobby is a surrogate father figure.
Castiel’s more of a Winchester than Adam (was that the other brother’s name?) will ever be.

Dean only ever mentioned not believing in god and angels because he only believes in things he’s faced.
He faced an angel, who earned his trust.
Its not inconsistent with Deans character.
It’s neither ridiculous nor frankly bad writing — in fact, it’s the opposite–it’s brilliant. To take a character and shake up his firmly held beliefs is the very definition of drama. It’s facinating to watch that kind of struggle because it often reflects the kind of struggles real people have. Now I realize that some people don’t actually like drama, and what they really want is a sit-com charcter who never ever changes. But character development & progession and is what differentiates drama, and it’s what makes it compelling.
You can’t have stale, stagnant characters. Character progression, genius, includes growing, getting over issues, and making friends – and I disagree seriously with the claim that Dean and Cas have no chemistry. Have you seen the show?

I would definitely have given up on the show last year if it hadn’t been for Misha. I’m thrilled to bits that he’s coming back and his presence alone guarantees I will be watching season six
I was extremely happy to hear that Misha Collins will be back as Castiel next season. I would have been watching Season 6 anyway, but Castiel’s inclusion means I’ll be watching the Friday night broadcasts rather than going out and just catching up later on the DVR.
