'Medium' scoop: Season premiere will be FREAKY

Medium will kick off its seventh season on Sept. 24 with its freakiest episode to date.

“The season premiere is basically Freaky Friday,” explains executive producer Glenn Gordon Caron, “which is to say Allison becomes her 13-year-old daughter Bridgette, and Bridgette becomes her thirtysomething mother Allison.”

Medium‘s eleventh-hour renewal last May came as quite a shock to Caron, who “killed” his leading lady off in the finale (she was, of course, resurrected in the end). “I did that because I thought it might be the end,” he says. “The problem with the way the business works is the decision to renew or not renew comes very late—well past when the script is due. So I wanted the episode to have some sense of finality.”

That raises the question, What does Caron have planned for this season’s potential (and likely) series finale? “I have no idea,” he shrugged. “I’m still trying to figure out episode 5.”

I agree, the last two episodes of last season were especially amazing and would have been a good end, but I’m still very glad that the show is continuing. =D

    This show is still on?!

Someone remind me please. How did she die and get resurrected?

Realy glad Medium is renewed. I like Ghost Whisperer too ; but Ive always found the story and acting of Medium more interesting. But I hope they will use this season to wrap things up and go out with a BOOM.

This wouldn’t have to be the last season if the writing improved. Medium is my favorite show. Maybe the Freaky Friday thing will be cool, but there are SO many stories they can tell that would be awesome. This is such an easy show to make great, but there has to be consistent good episodes. This past season was just OK and if they want to stay on the air they need better story-lines and maybe a new cast member.

I am so glad Medium wasn’t cancelled! Medium is probably one of my favourite shows and all the storylines and characters are far more believable than Ghost Whisperer. Even though I used to love Ghost Whisperer, the last season was awful whereas Medium was brilliant!

I hadn’t heard that MEDIUM had been renewed, that’s great! The Freaky Friday thing sounds cool, can’t wait.

Jennifer Love Hewitt isn`t have the actor Patricia Arquette is !!
Ghost Whisperer deserved to be put down.

I love Medium and loved Ghost Whisperer, but I have always felt that Patricia Arquette was a really bad actress and still is. But the stories are good.

I LOVE Medium! SO happy it was renewed. Freaky Friday sounds like a great idea for this show, and I’m glad it will involve Bridget (nothing against Ariel, but she was the focus of a lot of eps last year).

    • Dave

I second that! Bridget is such a great character, and Maria Lark is a good young actor. I always enjoy it when Bridget is the focus of the story. This one should be fun.

I really love this show. It’s one of the most realistic depictions of a regular family on tv right now (discounting the paranormal stuff lol). Moving to CBS has rejuvinated Medium and I’m so glad to see it’s coming back next season.

I have adored Patricia Arquette since Lost Highway (no, before…she stood out in Nightmare on Elm Street Part 3). Medium is at its best when it is less formulaic and gimmicky (“Freaky Friday” would fall into the gimmicky category). Personally, I love the creepy stories, like the one with the dead doctor who killed girls by proxy of another doctor, and the touching, like when Anjelica Huston’s character’s daughter was killed and Allison located the body. The realistic family element and the relationship between Joe and Allison is probably one of the more real marriages portrayed on tv right now. I love how they drink beer but aren’t stereotyped as white trash or lushes, and that you see them awakening nude, obvious that *ahem* “marital relations” had taken place, without making a big deal out of it. I’m no prude, and that’s exactly why I like it, because it’s normal and it’s written like it’s normal. Medium isn’t my favorite show, but it’s solid and a nice change from legal/cop and medical dramas.

Love this show!!!! Last season’s finale was SO good (I love the relationship between the parents & kids). Can’t wait for the new season to start!!!

  • Linda

Can’t wait for the new season to start. I’m glad to see that Maria Lark (Bridgette) is going to have a Bridgette-centric episode with Patricia Arquette’s character. I saw Maria interviewed once on Jay Leno and she is a really funny girl.
