Scoop: 'Law & Order: LA' collars 'CSI Miami' alum Wanda De Jesus

wanda-dejesusImage Credit: Jeffrey Mayer/WireImage.comErasing fears that Dick Wolf was going with an all-male ensemble for Law & Order: Los Angeles, CSI: Miami grad Wanda De Jesus has joined the cast as Arleen Gonzales, the cool and authoritative captain of the Robbery Homicide Division. Additionally, Regina Hall (Ally McBeal) has been tapped to play beautiful and brainy ADA Eva Price.

De Jesus (who got her start on a little soap called Santa Barbara) and Hall join the previously cast Skeet Ulrich, Corey Stoll, Alfred Molina, and Terrence Howard. Production on LOLA begins Monday.

This is fantastic news! She was great on CSI: Miami. Now I am completely sold on LOLA!

    • aoron

      No Kristin Kreuk? fail

  • Janey

Finally a lady. But what a shock that Law & Order continues to be almost completely male dominated.

    • Bill

Male-dominated? Take your blinders off…The ADAs on the mothership have been female, at least one detective was…along with Van Buren. SVU has a female lead, many female ADAs….CI always had a female detective, now has a female captain.

  • Ashley

Sorry…not impressed. While I certainly like the actors involved I can’t believe they canceled the original Law and Order for this crap. The last season was the best season in recent years.

    • @Ashley

How can you call a show that you haven’t even seen yet, “crap?” What are you, some kind of Republican party of “no” person? For goodness sake, if you’re gonna post a comment, make some sense.

  • Tab

Would it have killed you to mention she is currently appearing on ALL MY CHILDREN?

  • scar2

What happened to Terence Howard’s movie career? I guess he got a bad rep after Iron Man of being difficult.

    • Shawn

I agree with you but what better way to make the masses remember how great an actor you are by being on an hour drama every week. I think TH will make a good detective. I guess we’ll have to see this fall.

  • TV Gord

I loved her on Santa Barbara. She’s now playing the mayor on All My Children. I don’t watch the L&Os, but I might check this one out.

  • Shawn

I think Regina Hall will be a great ADA. She played one on Ally McBeal back in the late 90s. Glad to see her back on the small screen. Hope she’s still got those great looking legs!

  • melanie

yay for the Santa Barbara mention! Loved her there!

  • Maggie

an additional tidbit about Wanda De Jesus; she has been with Jimmy Smith for years, handsome couple

  • Maggie

    corection – Jimmy Smits

  • HG

Hello! She’s on All My Children!

    • TV Gord

I don’t know why people have to be obnoxious when they point something out. DeJesus joined AMC a few months ago with zero fanfare and no publicity release from ABC. Unless Michael watches AMC (which–if he’s smart–he doesn’t, these days), how is he to know?

  • mari

I still don’t like the fact that it is set in LA. I know LA can be gritty but … well I hope they go for the gritty LA and not the glitzy one.

  • T

Crap!!! Terrance Howard got the role most of us had wanted/suggested Idris Elba for! Ugh….Terrance Howard. Do. Not. Want. Wanda DeJesus and Regina Hall on the other hand is pure awesomeness. It’s nice that they have such a diverse cast but Terrance Howard??? Really Dick Wolf??? Really??

    • Jay

      Terrence Howard is THE JOINT!!!
I loved him in almost everything he does, especially “Street Time” the show that was on Showtime in the early 2000′s. He will be a great addition to the cast!!

  • JMaG

I like the Regina Hall casting a lot, not sure about the other woman. Overall it is a very strong cast. I am looking forward to seeing this.

  • jfms777

Wasn’t she the cop on that cop show that NBC dumped and TNT picked up?

    • kdn

No, that was Regina King and the show was Southland – set in LA, also.
