Filed under: Scoop and tagged: , , ,

ausiello-tour-parenthood-christensenAt last night’s NBC press tour bash, my favorite Parenthood couple, Erika Christensen and Sam Jaeger, confirmed reports that season 2 will find Julia and Joel contemplating [spoiler alert]. Jaeger also spilled the beans about his emotionally-charged confrontation with [spoiler alert] on the [spoiler alert] in the premiere. The spoilerific two-part interview is after the jump!

For more videos from Friday's NBC bash—including interviews with Law & Order: Los Angeles' Skeet Ulrich, Outlaw's Jimmy Smits, and Burn Notice's Sharon Gless—head over to the Ausiello TV hub.

my guess is that they’re just using the ‘let’s have a baby’ device to segue into a different, more surprising direction.

They are my least favorite part of Parenthood. Like I can’t believe how blandly their family is written.

And why weren’t the PH leads, Peter Krause and Lauren Graham, at the party? I wanted to see them.

      Me to!

Julia is my favorite adult character from the show. Looking forward to more interesting story lines though.

Mine too. Her frustration with that Mommy at her daughter’s school is something I fully understand. And she has, quite possibly, my favorite Parenthood quote thus far in which she was refuting the idea that lawyers are liars. The writers using the old debate trick of declaring one practically un-American for holding such an idea was so perfect. I’m an attorney and so is my husband, and that little discussion seemed just like something we would have with our own daughter. It’s practically a game for us to try to circle every argument around to someone being un-American. :)

D: dun you hate on j&j! I’m with Aus here, because try as I may I can’t help but love them. Julia’s infuriating sometimes – taking advantage of joel’s good nature. and he’s a put of a pussy himself, but I think they’re both incredibly well-written and avoid any kind of stereotypes and cliches associated with that kind of pairing. Plus, they’re both gorgeous, and that obviously counts for a lot.

  • Sam

Michael looks rather frightening in the picture.

OMIGOD! THE EYES! WHERE ARE HIS EYES?!

I just love how they’ve gone from Julia barely being in her daughter’s life due to work to now wanting to have another baby. A whole season of constant clashes with her daughter and suspicions about her husband’s fidelity and lets go with a new baby.

God, their family is a total bore. I can’t even watch the show when it’s on because that means I can’t FF their scenes so I wait until the show is done recording. That’s how much I can’t stand their family.

I know that’s the trendy sort of thing to say when you don’t like a character or couple, but if you were to do it in actuality, wouldn’t you miss a huge part of the plot? I’m just saying.

      • Kylie

I watched The Good Wife at 9 instead of PH so yes I did FF their scenes. And no, the storylines of each family are all pretty separate. The only storylines that overlapped in the first season were Sarah and Adam.

  • lili

uggghh i hate it when you put videos on :( i prefer to read them haha but each to their own :)

I enjoy interviews of Erika because she’s so much more laid back than her Parenthood character.

  • Fatima

I think they’re my favorite part of the show too. It’s an interesting dynamic I haven’t seen much on TV.

  • johnc

I like them too although it is not my favorite.

  • Caro

yeah where are Lauren and Peter!ß They are the leads!!!

  • Sue

What a surprise. More cheerleading for Parenthood. It’s not a bad show but it isn’t even close to The Good Wife. The total viewers count, critical acclaim, SAG & Emmys all agree on that.

    • Rusty Shackleford

I was thinking that myself, EW seems to love Parenthood

      • Gretchen

Parenthood is a show that deals with normal everyday family issues and portrays them as such. Just because 20 million people don’t watch it (it came out midseason) doesn’t mean it isn’t a great show worthy of just as much attention as other shows.

  • akri

I agree with gretchen..it’s a good show..hopefully more viewers will tune in this season..i watch it b/c of lauren of course..
